It’s been just 8 days since Black History Month has drawn its curtains, but the impact still reverberates. From Simone Biles to Jordan Chiles, the athletic talents of these women have paved the way for black representation in sports. But there’s another gymnast, who also plays a crucial role in inspiring the crowd keeping her journey as a role model. And she is none other than Gabby Douglas.

Because of unforeseen COVID-19 which halted Douglas’s comeback to the Winter Cup dreams, the 28-year-old pushed her return ceremony further. But amid these little hiccups, one major part of her healing journey is immense fan love too, and it comes from a youngster who chose Douglas as her subject of presentation.

Gabby Douglas receives the sweetest gift

In an adorable Instagram story, a youngster was seen saying, “This is my 3D project. The Visa Championship Gym”. In a Nike shoe box, the schoolgirl placed a doll in a split position and made a couple of gymnastic equipment with household items around her. She continued explaining her project, voicing, “This is the beam, this is the bar, and this is the foam pit and this is Gabby Douglas“, while pointing each one out.

As a cherry on top, she also printed a book of the Olympian titled “Gabby’s World. By Olivia Malloy”. This heartwarming gesture by the endearing kid captured the attention of no other but Gabby herself. Sharing this as her Instagram post, she wrote, “i’m extremely honored. ty. i love you”. She paired it with a black heart and a teary-eyed emoji.

For more context, the previous story gave the name of the event, ‘Black History Living Museum 2024’. Most probably an intra-school thing to engage more students and enlighten them about the achievements of athletic talents. Hoping to pitch up for the April camp, the 2012 all-around Olympic champion has returned to her beloved arena.

Douglas’ schedule looks convincing

Back at the WOGA Gymnastics to train under Anna and Valeri Liukin, Douglas will vie for the April 1-4 Katy positions. “If we get the invite, she hopes to compete in the all-around at the April verification”, said coach Liukin. “She remains laser focused on doing everything in her power to put herself in the best position for Paris”, conceded her coach.

The 2015 World all-around silver medalist will not be the only Olympic all-around champion rooting for the big event. Suni Lee, the 2020 Tokyo Olympic all-around champ is also making a comeback. Moreover, it will also be Simone Biles’ resurgence ceremony after her 2023 Worlds Gymnastics Championships.
