Jordan Chiles, best known for her Tokyo Olympics representation is vying to secure a spot in the five gymnasts American team that will compete in Paris this summer. However, she pulled out of the first seasonal competition, the 2024 Winter Olympics held in Louisville last month stating shoulder injury. The 22-year-old social media-savvy collegiate gymnast famous for her lucrative NIL deals recently revealed her partnership with the dating app Bumble. She also offered some personal reflections that she’s keeping in control this year in Bumble’s newest post.

The Olympic silver medalist said, “I think my biggest challenge would be not being so hard on myself. And I keep telling myself over and over again like, it’s okay you don’t have to be perfect in this moment. That’s kinda my challenge right now and trying to focus on myself.” The two-time NCAA champion went from being an underdog to an Olympic highlight overnight.

Now, with a fresh perspective, she is practicing to be true to herself as she heads to make her second Olympics appearance. When asked to draw a comparison between her in 2021 and now, Chiles told Olympics.com, “I feel that Jordan in 2021 was still known as the underdog, was still known as ‘Oh, she’s up-and-coming.” So, what’s next for the Olympic dreamer?

Sight set for the 2024 Paris Olympics

Chiles may be a young, naive student-athlete for many but is an experienced veteran of the gymnastics community. Her professional journey is a reflection of the many fights she has fought, and the long shot she took in 2019 flying to Texas to train with Simone Biles. Still, honest to herself and her craft, Chiles recalled her poor performance in the Tokyo qualifying stages and kept clear of repeating the same mistakes as she aims for the Summer Olympics.

But, you know, at the end of the day, whatever happens, happens and I’m just trying to focus.” As Chiles continues to balance her NCAA-approved sponsored deals off mats, the gymnast is busy chasing perfecting with her coaches.
