The intending and experienced Olympians are bringing forth the likes of them in the Olympic year. If people know Biles now, the previous generation was gaga over Shannon Miller, the second-most decorated gymnast in history. Alongside the track, gymnastics has brought a good name to the US, especially by the grace of the women.

From 1991 to 1996, Miller has bagged 16 medals across the Worlds and the Olympics. But her breakthrough happened in 1992, which resonates to this day. Pulling herself out of both the 1992 World Championships and the National Champs, the 47-year-old only focused on the Summer Games. In that, she recorded history to score the highest of all gymnasts and anchor her team to a bronze. She also bagged individually. But the world still tries to find  fault in one of her routines which didn’t receive a 10.0.

At the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992, the then 15-year-old was the only woman to perform all 16 of her routines without major tumbles. By just 0.012 points, she was robbed of the gold in the all-around finals, but the next day encompassed more close finishes, which gave birth to quiet controversies. She won two bronze medals in floor exercise and uneven bars and a silver in balance beam. However, scoring a 9.837, she missed the vault podium. In an Instagram post, the resurfaced video went viral with the caption, If ever there was a vault that deserved a 10.0 that didn’t receive on was this !!!!”

From the video, the perfect vault maneuver didn’t seem to have any flaws to give a reason to the judges. Little Miller had the perfect mount and landing with the body pointed throughout. So this vault routine receiving the lowest score among her other routines was not digestible to the crowd. So, below the resurfaced video, fans jumped in to comment.

Fans speculate about unfair scoring

One fan showed concern over the lack of closure. Said,Still to this day I can’t understand where they found any deductions“. Another fan chimed in to say,Agreed – she was absolutely robbed”. An Instagram user cum gymnastic enthusiast seconded his fellow commenters and said, “I don’t know how I hasn’t really seen this before, but yes this was a 10”.
