The thing about gymnastics is we are grinding our bodies for years and years, and it’s very rare that we get any rest time really,” said Stephen claiming he would be taking a month away from gymnastics, and testing the waters in dancing. In a recent post on X, Stephen’s Instagram story was shared, showing him leaving his hometown of Sarasota for New York. This has fueled speculation that the gymnast might be joining the popular dance show. If this turns out to be true, he wouldn’t be the first gymnastics star to find his groove on Dancing with the Stars.

Two-time Olympic gold medalist and Auburn Tigers star Suni Lee was one of the biggest names to appear in the 30th edition of Dancing With The Stars, and Stephen could follow suit soon. Using the fluid agility she acquired from her career as an elite gymnast, Lee captivated fans and proved she was far from having two left feet. Her seamless dance routines with partner Sasha Farber left viewers in awe, convincing many that, had gymnastics not been her path, dancing could have easily been a profession for her. After placing fifth that year in DWTS, Suni said, “I feel like I finally found myself, and I’m more confident in myself…I feel like I’m more open now, and that was the main goal to come on this show. Obviously, winning was there, but I feel like I love myself more than ever and that is a really important thing.

The upcoming Gold Over America Tour promises to showcase some of the country’s greatest stars, including Simone Biles. Many fans were eagerly anticipating seeing Stephen shine once again at the September event. While his participation now seems unlikely, the gymnast might make up for it with a sensational performance in a new role. What are your thoughts? Drop a comment below!
