Jordan Chiles, despite her low, is back with some heat! On National Gymnastics Day, Jordan decided to shock the world. Jordan’s revelations come after one of her Team USA mate’s Instagram revelations. Sunisa Lee recently posted a video of her nailing the “cheng vault!” That’s right, a perfect round-off onto the vault, followed by a half-twist and a front handspring off the vaulting table!
This wasn’t just another video for Suni Lee; it was a reminder of the work to do after her bumpy start to 2024. The season began with a struggle at the Winter Cup for Lee. It was not until the Core Hydration Classic events that she started getting back in form. And if that wasn’t enough, Lee also won silver on beam at the Xfinity US Gymnastics Championships. So why does this vault video matter? It is a peek into the lives of these high-performing athletes and their resilience despite all odds.
Following the marvels of Lee, Jordan Chiles took to Instagram and posted a clip of her own. She captioned it, “A skill I never got to compete.” The video showed her executing an impressive vault, just as Suni had done. This post comes with a heavy punch for Chiles as it comes after the controversy that stripped her of her individual Olympic bronze medal in the floor exercise.

Although Chiles did not have the season that Lee did, she has had her fair share of wins this season. Jordan started the season with the Core Hydration Classic, winning third place in the all-around behind legends Simone Biles and Shilese Jones. She followed this up with a fifth finish at the National Championships. She then shook the world again at the Olympic Trials, once again when she won third place in the all-around, as well as on the uneven bars and floor exercise. To top it all off, she finished second on vault.
Once the games rolled around, Jordan and Lee gave it their all! They both competed in all four apparatuses during the qualification rounds. Jordan did not make it to the all-around final thanks to the ‘two athletes per country’ rule. Biles and Lee were ranked higher. Lee secured the third-place ranking overall. This put her in the all-around final and qualifications for both the uneven bars and balance beam finals. On the other hand, Jordan landed in fourth on vault but once again missed out on the final, with Biles and Carey vaulting ahead of her!
Despite all the nitty-gritty of competition, Jordan’s sneak peek felt like a moment of celebration. But she’s not alone in keeping her fans hooked with vaults. Rebeca Andrade, the 2020 Tokyo Olympic vault champion, also posted on Instagram a video of her vaulting. It’s like vaulting season! Between Jordan, Suni, and Rebeca, these videos remind us that these athletes are constantly evolving, even when the world isn’t watching. But it is not all about missed opportunities for Jordan Chiles.
Jordan’s restarts on a new stage despite missed opportunities, but not Lee!
It is also about living in the moment. Right now, Jordan is doing exactly that. She is off on the Gold Over America Tour. The glitz and glam of gymnastics were accompanied by her best friend, Simone Biles. Chiles has been posting all about the vibes lately as well.
