Simone Biles stands is a true legend in the world of gymnastics. Recently, she made history as she claimed her 8th National Championship title. But that’s not all. Along with her seven Olympic medals, Biles’ legacy includes having several gymnastics elements named after her in the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Code of Points.

As of September 2023, there are four such elements: one on the vault, one on the balance beam, and two on the floor exercise. Following in the footsteps of her legendary aunt, Ronni Biles, aka Baby Biles, recently once again grabbed the spotlight. After her first flight to San Jose, California, in support of her aunt at the 2023 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships, where Biles clinched her 8th national title, Baby Biles has unlocked a “new skill” of her own.

In a recent Instagram reel, Sammi Biles, the sister-in-law of Simone Biles, shared a glimpse of Baby Biles. The video featured two charming moments of Baby Biles, one where she grinned at the camera in a pink outfit. The first video had a caption that read, “POV: Sleep Regression = the time when your baby’s sleep patterns shift, they wake up often during the night, and they have a hard time going back to sleep. And if your baby is awake, so are you.”

It continued, “aka big developmental changes in baby’s motor skills and brain development, including understanding object permanence, and learning how to sit up, crawl, and stand.”?

The video then transitioned to the second clip, showing Baby Biles in her cradle, playfully sticking her tongue out and touching the net with her tongue, earning it the caption, “The Skill.” The background track for this adorable moment was “Lil Boo Thang” by Paul Russell.

The caption in the post expressed the family’s joy and pride, stating, “& you definitely make us proud boogie. Thank you for keeping me on my toes & amazing us every day. Shout out to my girl @whatthefunkfertility for the idea. Love, love, love our miracle girls!!!” Even at a young age, she’s following in her aunt’s footsteps, who has four gymnastics elements named after her.

The IGF (International Gymnastics Federation) names these skills after gymnasts only if they perform them in a higher or major international level competition. The Olympics is also included under the competitions list. As for Biles, she has these four skills named after her for her natural gymnastics abilities and progression.

Although it is not yet officially named after her, it remains unofficially in the code of points.

On the balance beam, Biles trained a daring double-twisting double-tucked salto backward dismount, debuting it in 2019 with a rating of “H,” sparking debates about fairness. Despite the rating controversy, she executed it flawlessly at the 2019 World Championships. Her influence extends to the floor exercise, where she unveiled the double layout with a half twist in 2013, inspiring others like Trinity Thomas and Gabrielle Clark.
