In the world of competitive gymnastics, departures become a tough move for the elite players, given their long-term association with the games. One such gymnast recently announced the heartfelt news of his farewell. Apart from representing Team USA at multiple international events, the 28-year-old from Texas has never fallen short of showcasing his prowess in the gymnastics world.

Because of an unfortunate injury, Colin Van Wicklin could not participate in the Tokyo Games in 2021. However, 2020 Winter Cup high bar champion Wicklin made a comeback in the 2022 Winter Cup. But, now, 3 times NCAA Gymnastics Champion posted a heartbreaking update on his Instagram.

Colin Van Wicklin announces retirement

12-time NCAA All-American Wicklin took to his Instagram official account and penned a heartbreaking note from his Instagram handle. Along with posting multiple vibrant gymnastics pictures of himself, U.S. Gymnastics Colin Van announced his retirement from Gymnastics. He wrote, “There is never a right time or way to announce this so here it goes. I am announcing my official retirement from the sport of Gymnastics.”

Apart from garnering a lot throughout his Gymnastics career, Wicklin remarked his feat as the most decorated athlete in the Gymnastics world. In his post, Colin Van penned his biggest accomplishment as the Gymnasts. Despite being the 5-time Senior National Team Member Colin Van Wicklin also cherished his every accomplishment and wrote “I value and appreciate every win, every loss and everything in between because it was all a part of the journey.’’

Concluding his post, a former World Team Member for the US, Colin Van also showed his gratitude for having the great gymnastics journey while writing, “I am thankful for the journey, the experiences, and the life-long lessons I have learned along the way.”

Wishes for the retirement journey pour in

Soon after, Colin Van’s retirement post surfaced on the Internet, along with the USA Gymnastics team, many athletes came ahead to cherish his journey. OU gymnasts and U.S. national all-around champion Yul Moldauer, and Elite Gymnast Drake Andrews wished him on his phenomenal career.

Apart from that, former US gymnast and assistant coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks NCAA gymnastics team Chris Brooks and many more US legends congratulated him for having an incredible gymnastics career. They wished him good luck in his future endeavors.
