After the Cottbus affair in February 2024, Baku received the reins of holding the FIG Apparatus World Cup. This gymnastics occasion also showcased the Paris Olympics 2024 qualifying mark as the other three- Cairo, Cottbus, and Doha. An average point will be the soul saver earned from those four world cups on this estimate. Having said that, Team USA manifested an acute interest in the event. The team selection indicated that.

With Olympians like Nicole Ahsinger, Reese Esponda stormed into the final American lineup after her recent form on the mat. With diminishing any space for doubt on her prowess, the teenage gymnast displayed a valiant effort to stay atop.

After Katelyn Jong surpassed the qualifying mark to be in Sunday’s final, Reese Esponda responded to her teammate by upping the ante on Friday. In her phenomenal floor exercise, the 15-year-old Missoula gymnast earned 13.433, enough to secure a place in the final event. So noticing Reese Esponda’s first glee in national leotard, USA Gymnastics’s X-handle rejoiced in the moment with a captivating post. It read, “Senior International Debut [emoji]…Reese Esponda is headed to Sunday’s Floor Exercise final at the Baku World Cup after posting a qualifying score of 13.433!”

With her entry, all four Team USA members are now on Sunday’s roster. The Team USA’s women’s synchro squad also showcased their predominance in the respective event. Previously, the American gymnasts duo defeated the Chinese team in the Synchro event with a scoreline of 49.010. In most of the gymnastics departments, China registered their upper hand after claiming the top position. So before qualifying for the Paris Olympics 2024, the performances in synchro and individual brilliance will boost the American team. However, to keep the momentum, Reese Esponda might need to repeat the same feat that she flaunted in the Winter Cup 2024.
