A decorated gymnast from Great Britain, Amelie Morgan is presently in her senior year at the University of Utah, marking phenomenal strides. Excelling at NCAA gymnastics, she is currently balancing both her NCAA and elite commitments. With the upcoming Olympics and other A-grade competitions, Morgan is now focused on elite gymnastics, after her successful stint at NCAA.
Intending to represent Team Great Britain at the Paris 2024 Olympics, she delves into her comeback in a recent interview. As the Artistic British Championships is scheduled this week, she ascribes the return to the love that she bears towards the sport while reflecting on the lessons she has gathered route.
Amelie Morgan’s comeback to elite gymnastics

The official Instagram account of British Gymnastics took to feature Amelie Morgan in an exclusive interview. With her return to the floor this week as she is poised to travel to Liverpool, she delves into “what she’s been up to and her plans for the year.”

The Utah fan base is particularly very excited to see Morgan perform at the Artistic British Championships. Talking about it, Morgan adds that despite finding satisfaction in collegiate gymnastics, she felt a yearning to return to elite competition, which was also fuelled by the forthcoming Olympics. She adds, “For the past two and a half years after Tokyo I’ve been in Utah, in America, doing collegiate gymnastics while also studying at university. I’ve been loving it out there, but obviously, with the competition this year and the Olympics coming up, I wanted to come back and do some elite competitions and be where I could be.”
Furthermore, she adds that witnessing athletes “compete internationally and even internal British Championships”, infused her with a “feeling of competing with a home crowd.” And, this is why she is back.
Morgan’s aspirations beyond the NCAA in the elite realm
Amelie Morgan, who had secured bronze at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, recently competed at her first senior elite level meet at the English Gymnastics Championships after Tokyo. Strengthening the Team GB roster, she went on to finish third in the all-around competition. Morgan achieved a spectacular all-around score of 52.950.

Even though she was on a break from elite gymnastics as she went on to focus on NCAA competition, she has dominated both realms. Her mind-blowing performance gained attention, as it also helped her earn a spot in the British Gymnastics Championships. She seeks to represent Great Britain at the European Championships, while also aiming to secure a berth at the Paris Olympics.
