Simone Biles' second gold in Paris—Does this cement her legacy as the GOAT in gymnastics?

Jonathan Owens couldn’t believe his eyes when Simone Biles brought home her eighth Olympic medal just days ago. “Witnessing history every time you step on the mat 😍🔥 Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!! Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!! So thankful I was there to see it ❤️🤍💙” he marveled on Instagram. So, what did he have to say after her ninth win and sixth Olympic gold? We’ve got his first words straight from the Bercy Arena at the Paris Olympics!

After Simone Biles and Suni Lee dominated the All-Around, Jonathan Owens met our correspondent, Shreya Verma. Grinning from ear to ear, the Chicago Bears safety told EssentiallySports, “I love it. I’m so proud [of Simone].” It’s clear that Owens is Simone’s biggest fan, cheering her on from the stands with a heart full of pride and joy.

Earlier, we reported how the brown-eyed NFL star entered the arena, blending in with the crowd. You’d think Owens, husband to the GOAT and a star in his own right, would strut in like a VIP. Nope! He was blending right in with the crowd, rocking casual black shorts, a matching T-shirt, and a red and black sling bag. Throughout the game, he loudly and proudly applauded his wife, who toppled the scores again.

Team USA owned the podium: Simone Biles dazzled with gold and a score of 59.131, Rebeca Andrade from Brazil snagged Silver with 57.932, and Suni Lee took bronze with 56.465. Taking to Instagram, the NFL player couldn’t help but celebrate his wife’s historic achievements as he witnessed them unfold. On his Instagram stories, he shared a video with the caption: “Another Gold.”

He also reposted a photo of Simone Biles biting her gold medal, courtesy of USA Gymnastics, Team USA, and the NBC Olympics, noting her six Olympic golds. Owens added his own touch of admiration, simply marveling, “The greatest.” Before the big day, Simone and Jonathan soaked up the City of Love, hitting all the iconic spots like the Mona Lisa in the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower.

At the Paris Olympics team finals, Jonathan could be seen with a pen and paper, diligently recording Simone’s scores all night. The two shared a cute moment at the All-Around finals too—Biles on the floor and Jonathan in the 20,000+ crowd at the Accor Arena. They locked eyes and made a heart hand gesture to each other. Talk about goals!
