Cecile Landi, head coach and 1996 French Olympian, expresses enthusiasm for this uncommon arrangement, saying, “We were like, ‘All right, let’s go–girl power!'” With this, another coach, Chellsie Memmel, U.S. women’s high-performance technical lead, sees it as a historic moment reflecting the strengthening arena of gymnastics. Alongside Landi, guiding gymnasts like Jordan Chiles, and other athletes like Tiana Sumanasekera, and Zoe Miller, an all-female delegation, is happy with this feat. Where Chiles adds, “The culture is just changing. Everything is changing. Honestly, I really enjoy that, and it’s pretty cool just to be able to be a part of that, as well.”

All around gold winner fires on all cylinders

Gator gymnast Kayla DiCello secured another gold medal, triumphing in the Pan American Games all-around competition. Contributing to the U.S. team’s sixth consecutive Pan American Games team gold, DiCello showcased her exceptional skills at the National Stadium Sports Park in Santiago, Chile.

This victory marks a significant achievement as DiCello becomes the first U.S. Pan Am Games all-around gold medalist since Bridgette Caquatto in 2011. The U.S. gymnastics team dominated, with Brazil’s Flavia Saraiva securing silver and Jordan Chiles from the U.S. claiming bronze on Monday.

Even in the international competition, Gator freshman Anya Pilgrim, representing Barbados, displayed her talent and dedication, securing the 18th position overall. The upcoming challenges for DiCello include the Pan Am event finals, where she will compete in the balance beam and floor exercise events on Wednesday.
