As per the NBCOlympics.com report, big changes have been observed in the 2023 Pan American Games season. The shift from male to female coaches represents a notable change, celebrated for empowering girl power. The US sports community has progressed in embracing diversity.

Cecile Landi, head coach and 1996 French Olympian, expresses enthusiasm for this uncommon arrangement, saying, “We were like, ‘All right, let’s go–girl power!'” With this, another coach, Chellsie Memmel, U.S. women’s high-performance technical lead, sees it as a historic moment reflecting the strengthening arena of gymnastics. Alongside Landi, guiding gymnasts like Jordan Chiles, and other athletes like Tiana Sumanasekera, and Zoe Miller, an all-female delegation, is happy with this feat. Where Chiles adds, “The culture is just changing. Everything is changing. Honestly, I really enjoy that, and it’s pretty cool just to be able to be a part of that, as well.”

Gator gymnast Kayla DiCello secured another gold medal, triumphing in the Pan American Games all-around competition. Contributing to the U.S. team’s sixth consecutive Pan American Games team gold, DiCello showcased her exceptional skills at the National Stadium Sports Park in Santiago, Chile.

This victory marks a significant achievement as DiCello becomes the first U.S. Pan Am Games all-around gold medalist since Bridgette Caquatto in 2011. The U.S. gymnastics team dominated, with Brazil’s Flavia Saraiva securing silver and Jordan Chiles from the U.S. claiming bronze on Monday.
