When Simone Biles took over the Target Center in Minneapolis, her family showed up in full force as her loudest cheerleaders. From her husband Jonathan Owens to her parents Ronald and Nellie Biles, her brother Ron Biles II, and his wife Sammi, they were all there. And of course, their daughter and Simone’s favorite and littlest fan, Baby Biles, aka Ronni, was there too as Simone made history.

Sammi, Simone’s sister-in-law, had put in some serious effort days ahead of the trials, meticulously prepping custom outfits with rhinestones and creativity. But little Ronni stole the show by rocking a leotard and standing out from the crowd. Interestingly, the leotard that Ronni wore was similar to the one that Simone wore during the 2021 Gymnastics Trials.

It’s no secret that she adores her TT, aka Simone Biles. From cheering for her to mimicking her gymnastics style and even following in her footsteps in the sport, Ronni mirrors Simone in so many ways. And now, Jonathan Owens has taken notice and can’t get enough of her cuteness.

After the competition, Jonathan Owens, mesmerized by Simone’s mini-me, shared a cute story with her on Instagram. Ronni, just one year old and sporting an adorable blue and orange leotard with a white bow, was busy petting Beacon, the therapy dog who’s also a credentialed staff member for USA Gymnastics.

When Jonathan called out to her, Ronni turned to the camera and showed off her dance moves, rolling her hands while Sammi and Jonathan cheered her on. Right after her cute little performance, Baby Biles went back to petting Beacon.

Even Sammi Biles shared how special this moment was for Ronni on Instagram. She posted a story of Ronni in a USA gymnastics outfit, captioned, “Almost burst into tears experiencing this with her. So incredibly grateful—my first love combined with my lovely bestie miracle rainbow girl.”

Simone Biles punched her ticket to the Paris Olympics for a third time. She finished with an overall score of 117.225 over two days to claim the all-around title over Suni Lee, who came in second with a score of 111.675, while Jordan Chiles in third with 111.425. Jade Careycame in fourth with a score of 111.350 and Hezly Rivera rounds off the Team USA women’s gymnastics team.

With qualification to Paris secured, Biles became the oldest American woman to make an Olympic gymnastics team since the 1950s. Team USA and Biles especially will be motivated to deliver in Paris. “This is definitely our redemption tour I feel like we all have more to give,” Biles said after the trials.

Biles sounds determined and she will be eager to make a mark in Paris, given the way her journey in Tokyo ended. She will have her family cheering her on as always. Meanwhile, as we reflect on Ronni’s adorable moments at the gymnastics trials, let’s also give a shout-out to Beacon, the fur baby who stole her heart and played a big role at the 2024 US gymnastics Olympic trials.

The “Goodest Boy” Beacon making it all better at the 2024 US Gymnastics Olympic trials

The 2024 U.S. Olympic trials were intense. Shilese Jones, a two-time world champion, injured her knee during vault warm-ups but toughed it out on uneven bars with top scores. Kayla DiCello, another top contender, had to bow out after hurting her Achilles on the vault, leaving her and Suni Lee visibly shaken. Luckily, Beacon, a 4-year-old golden retriever therapy dog with soft, champagne-scented fur, was there to lend a paw.

As U.S.A. Gymnastics’ beloved “Goodest Boy,” Beacon is a regular at big events like the trials, rocking colorful bandannas and proudly wearing his U.S.A. Gymnastics badge. With his cute vibes and knack for soaking up stress like many therapy animals, Beacon joined USA Gymnastics to “promote a culture that protects the well-being of its athletes.” He is often found near stressed-out team members, getting belly rubs to calm and comfort them. And if someone needs it, he’s all about those gentle face kisses too.

During the nail-biting trials, Beacon was crucial in comforting Suni Lee, the reigning Olympic all-around champ, who was understandably emotional after Kayla’s injury before her own vault. Guided by Tracey Callahan Molnar, a former gymnast and coach, Beacon trotted over to Suni and other athletes, offering his calming vibes. Suni was seen petting Beacon’s back, cuddling his soft fur, and even giving his belly a rub when he coaxed her into it. Later, Suni took to Instagram, writing, “Thank god for Beacon,” showing how much his furry support meant during such a tough competition.

Even Jonathan Owens couldn’t resist the fur baby’s charm and shared a picture with Beacon on his Instagram story. As the 2024 US Olympic trials wrapped up, Ronni and Beacon’s meeting was the cutest cherry on top of Simone Biles’ journey to becoming a certified 3x Olympian, gearing up to make history at the Paris Olympics.
