Simone Biles needs no formal introduction. Despite her young age, she has achieved heights that only a few can reach. Having won 25 Championship medals and 7 Olympic medals, she is the undeniable gymnast G.O.A.T. With every medal she won, her popularity grew, and expectations from her went higher.

With time, she came to be recognized by the number of medals she won. Though the  25-year-old found nothing wrong with that. However, she shared a different perspective. The gymnast maestro talked to ‘USA Today’ about mental health and herself.

Simone Biles gave fans an insight into what she likes 

Simone recognized that “as a young adult, I can’t help but notice that people often identify me for the medals I have won.” There is no denying the fact that it is the medals that earned her recognition and set her apart from her contemporaries. She added, “don’t get me wrong, I am so lucky to have people who follow my career.” 

She further added that she knew why people asked her about her medals and training hours. For them, it was new and fun. Hence, the curiosity surrounding it was understandable. However, Biles also clarified that “gymnastics is what I do; it’s not who I am.”

There’s more to her personality. Her identity is not just that of a ‘gymnast’. She has multiple shades. She said, “my mom instilled in me the importance of being the best Simone I can be.” Her life has been full of struggle, and she appreciates those who ask her about her journey. For she got to “talk to them as a person.”

Simone may now be one of the most valued players, with high earnings, insane popularity, and every life luxuries. But this wasn’t always the case. She had her share of hurdles. When she was young, life was challenging. Shifting from one foster care to another, life was uncertain for her and her siblings.

She explained that it takes extraordinary and unique people to be willing to welcome children without homes into their homes. But it’s still challenging, perplexing, and frightening—even in the best and most well-intentioned foster care settings. However, things gradually changed from worse to better.
