The comeback announcement of three-time Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas is currently circulating, stating that she is continuing her training at WOGA Gymnastics with the hopes of making the Olympic squad for Paris in 2024. A spokesperson reveals to Inside Gymnastics magazine, “She remains laser focused on doing everything in her power to put herself in the best position for Paris.”

The latest news comes days after Anna Liukin, who along with husband Valeri, had been coaching Douglas had said that she was no longer receiving training at their gymnastics facility in the Dallas region. Since the 2016 Olympic Games, she has not participated. Douglas’ return to WOGA has given rest to speculation from fans who were eager to know which location she would be training at next.

Gabby Douglas’s chances of earning a qualifing spot

Last Saturday, February 24, Douglas was supposed to take part again in the Winter Cup in Louisville, Kentucky. However, she withdrew, citing COVID-19 in a social media post. Douglas said on Instagram, “I’m so sad to say that I won’t be competing this weekend.” “I was eager to return to the competition floor, but regrettably, I recently had a positive COVID test.” “Thank you so much of all your support and positive energy – it really does mean the world to me,” she said.

After battling COVID-19, Douglas now has to work towards earning a qualifying spot for the U.S. Championships in late May. To earn the spot Gabby either needs to take part in April’s national team camp or at the American Classic later in the month. In case she misses, she can still qualify by taking part in the U.S. Classic, 17-19 May in Hartford, Connecticut.
