Is Jordan Chiles' bronze moment a bigger win for gymnastics or for sportsmanship?

Jordan Chiles might have lost her spot on the podium, but she has gone on to gain something far cooler. Jordan initially won the bronze for her floor routine at the 2024 Paris Olympics. But unfortunately, the medal was controversially stripped away after a review. It left Jordan Chiles devastated. And then came the VMA’s! At the VMAs, American rapper Flavor Flav gifted Jordan a one-of-a-kind clock necklace.

Flav not only stepped in, he even went on to say, “I know they tried to take your medal away from you,” he said as he handed her the iconic clock, “but I got you something they can’t take away.” If that wasn’t enough of a moment, her former UCLA teammate, Selena Harris, gave Chiles a major shoutout on her Instagram story. Harris took it to Instagram and wrote, “Yes ma’am @jordanchiles.”

The best part? Jordan Chiles went on to repost it, showing the world that despite the college differences, the love and sportsmanship between these gymnasts is still going strong. Now, why does this matter? Harris recently has been a headline favorite after being dismissed from UCLA and transferring to the Florida Gators. Although Harris left UCLA under unfortunate circumstances, Jordan Chiles has stayed loyal to her Bruins roots. It also seems like the Chiles-Harris camaraderie extends beyond school drama, and this public show of support proves the same. Chiles, however, has been on a rollercoaster for a few weeks now.
