Simone Biles breaks a historic record

The 26-year-old Biles’s electrifying performance during her final event, the floor routine, elicited a standing ovation from the riveted audience and a remarkable final score of 118.450. She accomplished an astounding eight national all-around titles, becoming the first gymnast in history to do so. Biles made history by becoming the oldest American woman to win the all-around competition.

She tied for first place with the late Alfred Jochim, who won seven national all-around titles in 1933, on the way to this historic accomplishment.
