‘Tis the holiday season! As the year rolls to an end, every person in the USA will look forward to the festive time ahead to spend some time with their families. However, for Simone Biles, there’s no such luck. Instead, the gymnastics GOAT and her NFL star husband Jonathan Owens will probably stay far away once again, given their respective hectic schedules.
2024 has been a difficult year for the couple already. From Biles’ Paris Olympics duties to the high-paced football season, the Houston native and her bae have barely had the chance to stay in each other’s embrace for an extended period of time. However, despite what the fans believe, it may not be a matter of serious concern for the 7x Olympic gold medalist champ and her hubby.
On December 13, Simone talked to E! about how her holidays look with the Chicago Bears star having a long list of commitments. Their involvement in various things is so extensive that Biles and Owens often even miss out on the chance to revel in one of America’s favorite things: enjoying the year-end jubilation with their beloved.

On December 26, the Bears will face off against the Seattle Seahawks at Soldier Field. Naturally, that would mean Owens would have to spend Christmas going over the strategy for the next day. Moreover, Biles talked about how things like this make it difficult to maintain holiday traditions. “This time of year usually revolves around football. We don’t have set traditions because he’s either playing on the holiday, the day after, or the day before,” Biles said, underscoring how being a top-tier athlete always comes with its cons. However, there’s some silver lining in knowing that Owens is spreading joy mentioned Biles.
“It’s so much fun because it brings our family and friends together—and everyone across the U.S. is watching, so it’s really exciting,” the Olympian said, underscoring that her husband’s football career is a source of pride. And yet, as all families across America would scurry to book their plane tickets to spend the upcoming weeks in proximity with their close ones, we can’t help but imagine if a little hint of sadness will still hover across Simone’s heart for not having Owens by her side.
Simone Biles and her husband wiggle out time whenever they can
When Jonathan Owens signed for the Chicago Bears earlier this year, Simone could barely hold on to her excitement. Social media posts showed that commuting between Chicago and Houston is easier than traveling to Green Bay. Her enthusiasm to see her hubby in his new office didn’t sit well with many Green Bay fans, urging the gymnastics icon to tone down.
And yet, it was quickly revealed that there were a lot more things to keep the athletes away from each other than just poor mode of transport.

Determined to make up for her tumble in Tokyo three years ago, Biles began 2024 with gusto. The Core Hydration US Classic, the Xfinity US Championship, the US Olympic Team Trials, and finally, the 2024 Paris Olympics became a steep uphill climb. But being the GOAT Simone is, she persevered and won 3 gold and 1 silver medal at the Games.
Owens joined the Biles family to cheer for his wife in the City of Love to ensure she wasn’t running short on motivation. He convinced the folks over at his new camp for a quick leave to do so and noted his gratitude for the opportunity.

But there was no respite, even after reclaiming her top spot. Biles once again hit the road with her Team USA colleagues for the second edition of the Gold Over America Tour. And again, Owens put a pause on his NFL duties to show up at the stands to witness Simone in her natural habitat.
But now that football is going to disrupt the family’s holiday plans, how do you think Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens will make the most of the festivities? Tell us in the comment section!
