Gabby Douglas is leaving no stone unturned to mark her triumphant return, so it seems. While the 2012 Olympic gold medalist looks to make her comeback after eight long years, her recent training hasn’t impressed her fans. On top of that, missing out on the Winter Cup as well as the US Training Camp hasn’t helped either. But with the Paris Olympics just over a couple of months away, it looks like the 28-year-old will make use of every opportunity at hand to up her game.

Gabby is easily one of the most recognizable faces in the country when it comes to artistic gymnastics. However, while her stint at last month’s US Classic didn’t pan out according to plans, — coming off short on floor and bars — she might have something up her sleeve to take her opponents by surprise on the big stage.

In a recent interview with New Beauty, Douglas revealed her new workout to get back into her peak form ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics. When asked about how she maintained herself while not training for gymnastics, the two-time World Championships gold medalist confessed that living on a farm has its own perks. “I live on a farm so I would like run with the cows“, stated Gabby, and while her fans might be scratching their heads about her confession, she noted that making her workouts “fun” has been a primary focus.

To make sure things didn’t get drab, Gabby also tried her hand at dance workouts while also using the trampoline extensively. She further highlighted that training for gymnastics is fun, along with the pressure the expectations can create. So doing workouts that help to take her mind off things can be a great perk. Also, considering the long journey ahead, Gabby would do well to stay in shape.

For any athlete, making a return to action after an almost decade-long break is never easy. For gymnasts, even more so. But Gabby’s ambitions are fueled by the desire to expand her skill set. In the same interview, Douglas noted that in 2012 she was young and didn’t attempt many skills and competitions. “Doing different things is very exciting for me, but I honestly just hope to get that joy back. I missed the crowds. I missed designing the leotards, so that’s what really got me back into it.” stated the Olympic aspirant as she remembered how watching her friend perform re-ignited her passion. However, her comeback journey has been tumultuous, to say the least.

At the US Classic, Douglas bagged an impressive 14.000 on the vault event. However, there were plenty of others who edged past her scores. On the other hand, the Core Hydration Classic will give Douglas another chance to test the waters before next month’s national team selection. There, she will be facing off against the likes of Simone Biles and Suni Lee, both Olympic medalists by their own rights. Now, with Gabby’s newest training fad coming to light, it waits to be seen if her training bolsters her claims for a spot in Team USA or if her much-anticipated comeback dreams take leave in silence.
