Only 12 D1, none at the D2 level, and 3 universities in D3 sponsor men’s gymnastics programs. On top of that, choosing to be a specialist, odds were heavily stacked against Stephen Nedoroscik to make it. Born to now-retired Webster Police Officer John and client experience manager for Bay State Savings Bank “Ma” Cheryl, they have seen it all. Remember what Cheryl revealed after his bronze win? “There were so many derogatory remarks about the USA choosing him to be on the five-man team since he is a specialist”? But moving on…
After Nedoroscik helped Team USA win the bronze team medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics—the first in 16 years, and another bronze in his signature event, it was a dream come true not just for the 2015 Junior Olympic champion. Once a member of Sterling Academy of Gymnastics training under boys gymnastics coach Jon Rydzefski, for current owner Matt Carbone, it was a moment of fruition of the smallest of dreams his parents had when they started the business in 1992!
Moved from Massachusetts to Bradenton (Florida) to train with EVO Gymnastics in 2023, Nedoroscik started training alongside national teammates including two-time Olympian Brody Malone and the likes of three-time Olympian/coach Sam Mikulak. A little over a month after the Games ended, one of the many constants in his life, Mama Nedoroscik sat down for an interview at Jennifer Vickery Smith’s Got It From My Mama,

“I think he wants to be…not a perfectionist, but he likes to dabble in all sorts of different activities, whether it be at school or using his athleticism to try dancing. He likes to experiment and just to perfect what he is trying to. He’s game for anything. Unless, of course, it involves sun in his eyes. Then he is not so wild about that,” said the gymnast’s mom.
Smith was quick to point out, “I am surprised he chose Florida to live.”
However, it turns out that it was a pragmatic decision on his end. “Well, he did that because EVO opened the doors to the elite men. And it made sense to try to, you know, he has to live too. And you have got bills. He owes lots of student loans and he has to pay those and EVO offered him the opportunity to still train and make more money.”
Well, after the gymnast won his individual medal for the pommel horse routine in Paris, the general manager at EVO Gymnastics shared his happiness. “We knew right away that was a podium spot. Everything came together at once. It was an incredible moment,” he said and also shared their future goal.
“I think this was the bump that we needed. The ultimate goal is to be on top of the podium in 2028. That’s our goal. Moments like this will be valuable in motivation for the guys.” Nedoroscik and Brody Malone both train at EVO Gymnastics.
While EVO Gymnastics’ aim is clear, several gymnasts are doing their part to give the sport a boost.
A time of boom for gymnastics in the country!
As Nedoroscik tests his skills as a dancer, leaving fans in awe with his moves, his national teammates aren’t taking any time off to bask in their success.
This year in Paris, Team USA gymnasts secured a podium finish after a sixteen-year drought, marking one of the biggest highlights of the country’s campaign in France. Now, led by Simone Biles, Stephen Nedoroscik’s teammates are continuing to spread the magic of the Gold Over America Tour to fans across the nation.

They are doing well for themselves. Together, Nedoroscik, Yul Moldauer, Hezly Rivera, Brody Malone, Joscelyn Roberson, Ian Gunther, and others are all making gymnastics look like a fantastic profession, in different ways.
But Dancing with the Stars hasn’t been a walk in the park either for the gymnast. Nedoroscik has been pushed to his limits by the popular TV show, and his dance partner, Rylee Arnold, hasn’t held back in showing him just how demanding dancing can be. Entertaining fans with his moves, Nedoroscik is proving that his athleticism and vibrant personality are perfect for the dance floor. It’s no surprise that kids look up to him, especially considering how he hasn’t let his eye condition hold him back.
“A couple of mothers have reached out about their sons. One of them had strabismus, which is when your eyes are crossed, and you know they thought like, he couldn’t do sports. And he thought he couldn’t do sports. But sure enough, like after seeing me at the Olympics and seeing me on Dancing With the Stars you know, he started to tackle like football,” Nedoroscik said in a recent interview on DWTS.
