Flashback to March 2023, when Malone was performing at the DTB Cup in Germany, the 24-year-old gymnast witnessed an atrocious fall while twisting his right leg. He suffered from three major injuries, including a knee dislocation, a torn ligament, and a fractured tibia. These injuries might have caused the young gymnast’s career to take a small pause, but his burning passion to get back on the mat and show the world probably added to his devotion to recovering. The friend is none other than the 2014 and 2018 World Championship gymnast, winner of bronze in team and horizontal bar, Sam Mikulak. In Mikulak’s words, as revealed to the Herald-Tribune, “Brody is a rock of a human being, It’s all about character. Determination seems to be the quality.” And what a level of determination the gymnast has been displaying, indeed!

His comeback after a year in the all-around competition was a crystal-clear declaration that ‘Brody is back!’ Mikulak explains the importance of teamwork as he continues, “The grind toward the Olympics with your teammates is sacred. You need people of character around during those difficult times. During stressful times, we do a lot just trying to bring people together,” discussing team cohesion during difficult times.” Brody’s comeback after the injury straight to his second season at the Olympics will be narrating his tale differently this time!
