Along with a picture of Malone’s new belt buckle, Gymnastics Now tweeted, “Something ✨new✨ for the groom #XfinityChamps.” Earlier, Malone had said, “I told Serena I might wear it at our wedding.” This tweet brought to light a noteworthy event happening in Malone’s life off the gymnastics bars. However, he noted he might wear the belt at their wedding. Malone confirmed his engagement to Serena Ortiz, his long-term love, on December 31, 2023. Interestingly, the couple was born in January 2000, one day apart, and raised in Georgia.

After meeting in 2017, Serena Ortiz and Brody Malone began dating. Malone once highlighted Ortiz’s constant backing during his recovery in a podcast episode for The Last in Line. He stated, “My fiancée Serena, she’s amazing. She basically worked from home for two weeks, flew out, and took care of me.”

Malone faced many obstacles on his journey to the Championships. He was severely hurt on March 18, 2023, while dismounting from a high bar. He experienced a meniscus tear, a partial PCL tear, a full LCL tear, and a fractured right tibial plateau. Brody Malone’s career in gymnastics came into question due to this injury, which necessitated three operations and extensive recovery.

Ortiz remained on Malone’s side during this difficult time. Her encouragement was essential to Malone’s healing since it gave him the mental strength to face the most challenging situations. Malone stated, “she waited for me hand over foot… I’m super, super grateful to have her in my life,” highlighting Ortiz’s crucial part in the journey. In a conversation with the Olympics, Brody Malone expressed, “Going through what I’ve gone through, I’ve definitely learned to be grateful for every opportunity I have to compete.” His will to succeed was strengthened by this admiration, which led to his outstanding performances in the event.
