If you thought Simone Biles piqued at last month’s Core Hydration Classic, boy were you wrong! The ongoing Xfinity US Gymnastics Championships is proving to be worth every penny, and Biles just pulled out another emphatic bunny from the hat to exert her dominance once again.

After four rotations, the Olympic gold medalist now leads the pack in Fort Worth with a thumping 60.450 points to her name, Her latest feat has been shared with a sonorous post by NBC Olympics & Paralympics on X. “SIMONE BILES!!! She leads the women’s all-around competition after night one with a score of 60.450.‘ reads the ecstatic post as the accompanying video clip shows Biles’ impeccable floor routine.

From her very first rotation on the vault, Simone looked comfortable and in her element. In that event itself, Biles picked up a 15.800, the highest on the apparatus. At the Core Hydration Classic, Simone attempted the dangerous Yurchenko Double-Pike, despite skepticism from her former coach, Cecile Landi. With the test run being a successful one, she went for the move once again in Texas and ended her vault routine on a high note.

At the uneven bars and the balance beam, Biles scored 14.650 and 14.800, respectively. With over 45 points already in her pocket with one more rotation to go, almost everyone expected the 27-year-old to go for a home run, and she didn’t disappoint! Securing a phenomenal 15.200 thanks to a triple double-double and a double layout half out and two other moves named after herself, Biles reached her highest all-around scores since the 2021 Olympic Trials.

Now that Simone’s skills have once again been emphasized, many would argue that she had practically secured her ticket to Paris. However, the Olympic Trials, slated to take place in Minneapolis at the end of the month, will be the one last hurdle that the reigning world champ will have to overcome to get the final stamp on her claim.

While Simone’s prowess was displayed in all its glory at the Dickies Arena, there were probably a few reasons as to why she managed to go above and beyond expectations.

Sight set on the grand prize, with a little help from a special person

Only a few hours ago, Jonathan Owens, Simone’s husband, and Chicago Bears safety star, revealed on social media that he was flying to Fort Worth in order to cheer for her. Despite Texas having treacherous weather conditions, Owens looked determined to be in the stands with the hope of supplying more fuel to Simone’s ambitious fires. With that, Owens and Simone once again proved the extent they would go to for each other to help them keep their heads in the game. Now, as Simone’s comeback journey from her mental health troubles gets another boost, fans can’t wait to see what fairytale she will concoct on the banks of the Seine.

After Simone pulled out of the Tokyo Olympics finals, fans remained unwavering in their support. Taking a two-year-long hiatus following her tryst with “the twisties”, Simone got back into action last year, securing a gold medal in Antwerp, the very city which gave her first taste of international fame a decade ago.

With Biles looking firmly at the helm of things, only time will tell if her third shot at the Olympics becomes the one that seals her place among the immortals of the sport.
