Is men's gymnastics truly a 'dying sport,' or can Nedoroscik's passion reignite interest in the U.S.?

Stephen Nedoroscik’s Olympic glory might be familiar news, but his run on Dancing with the Stars season 33 keeps bringing the heat! Just recently, USA Gymnastics shared a clip on X where he opened up about his next dance, and it’s got heart. This week, he’s dedicating his performance to men’s gymnastics—a sport he feels is slipping away here in the U.S. “It’s a dying sport in the United States,” he said, sounding determined to make a difference.

He pointed out how the NCAA has been key in developing Olympic talent, saying, “Every single Olympic team member was an NCAA gymnast.” But with budget cuts and fewer scholarships, he worries about what’s next. This dance, he says, is more than just a routine; it’s a shout-out to keep the spirit alive. And to hype things up, his partner, Rylee Arnold, dropped a sneak peek of what’s coming next—looks like another epic moment is on the way!

On October 13, Rylee Arnold hopped onto Instagram, sharing a fun sneak peek of her and Stephen Nedoroscik rehearsing. In the clip, the two can be seen giving it their all, and when they finally wrapped up their intense Argentine Tango, both collapsed onto the floor. Rylee let out a dramatic “Oh my god!”—a mix of exhaustion and excitement all at once.

The video had a playful caption that read, “POV You just did an Argentine Tango.” And the post’s caption? “Hahahah we are DEAD😂😂😂😂” — summing up the fun energy of the moment! As the camera panned around, it captured Stephen Nedoroscik and Rylee lying on the floor, catching their breath and soaking in the behind-the-scenes vibes. With 105 points under their belt, Stephen Nedoroscik and his dance partner, Rylee Arnold, are holding strong in third place.

Meanwhile, Maher and her partner, Alan Bersten, managed to dodge elimination, securing the 9th spot, while Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong once again topped the leaderboard with the highest score for the third week in a row. As Stephen and Rylee gear up for week five, the buzz has it they’ll be performing an Argentine Tango to “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes, a tribute to men’s gymnastics. But this reel wasn’t the first hint Rylee teased to fans.

The duo’s tango twist with gymnastics flair

Just a few days ago, Stephen Nedoroscik’s dance partner, Rylee Arnold, hopped onto Snapchat stories, sharing a sneak peek straight from their training session. In the picture, Stephen was spotted hanging out near a pommel horse on the Dancing with the Stars set. Soon after, a Reddit user shared the story, writing, “Stephen and Rylee are gonna be using an pommel horse as part of there routine! seems fun but i hope it’s not an 30 min segment taking away from there argentine tango! there already practicing in ballroom!” And other fans had their own take on it!

One fan jumped into the Reddit discussion, commenting, “This makes sense to me, since it’s dedicated to men’s gymnastics. He’ll probably start on it and then immediately get to dances.” And honestly, they might be onto something! Stephen Nedoroscik isn’t called the pommel horse specialist for anything—he was not the only Team USA member in the men’s gymnastics team who snagged an individual bronze on the pommel horse at the Paris Olympics but also played a key role in breaking Team USA’s 16-year medal drought.

Fans are buzzing about how Stephen and Rylee Arnold will blend gymnastics into their routine. If they pull it off, it could be a TV highlight! Still, some think the idea isn’t totally original. Others remember JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson using props creatively, with one fan noting, “I could see them using the pommel in a similar way.” Now everyone’s curious if Stephen and Rylee will use the pommel horse as a fun prop instead of letting it steal the show. With a little creativity, this could be a performance to remember on Dancing with the Stars!
