Can Simone Biles' Olympic mindset really help singers on The Voice, or is this a mismatch?

Almost anyone can take a few lessons from Simone Biles. With 7 Olympic gold medals under her belt, the gymnastics GOAT has a few words of wisdom that everyone can use in their lives. Having competed in the highest levels of the sport for over two decades, Biles knows what it takes to keep up with stringent demands and continue dishing out stellar performances. Biles’ new responsibility has been revealed by a post on Instagram by NBC Voice from November 21. “Welcome Simone Biles to #TheVoice as Team Snoop’s Playoff Advisor,” read the caption of the post. It looks like Snoop didn’t leisurely spend his time in the City of Love by just having tons of fun and commenting on the events. Instead, he took the opportunity as a chance to expand his network and is now ready to make Season 26 of The Voice a true spectacle.

Biles knows more than most about facing adversity and chasing dreams, and she’s sharing that expertise with Snoop’s Artists,” noted an article by NBC from November 21. For obvious reasons, the show and the folks over at NBC seem pretty stoked to welcome the most decorated gymnast to their fold. With a long list of international accolades to her name, Biles knows perfectly well why keeping calm ahead of a big rumble, and The Voice contestants can also get a great chance to learn from one of the best.

Biles’ teachings can be witnessed this Monday when the next episode airs. Talking about her experience, the Texan said, “We were able to riff off each other and give the artists the best insight going into the next round.” On the other hand, Snoop Dogg also seemed pretty elated at having Simone Biles telling his team how to maintain composure. “She’s a performer. I’m a performer. We’ve performed under extreme conditions. We always do our best. But sometimes things happen behind closed doors that you don’t know about,” he said. And yet, fans aren’t sure that this was a good idea.

Fans believe this could be a setback for the contestants

Simone Biles’ fans can’t seem to wrap their heads around the news. As someone who has taken gymnastics to newer heights, you’d be hard-pressed to believe that she knows what pressure can look like and how to handle it. But fans say it could be sometimes good to be involved in what you know. “I love her as but I’m baffled?” commented a fan after learning about the news. And there are plenty of others who share the view.

While Biles’ expertise as a gymnast is beyond doubt (11 Olympic medals nullify all arguments), fans think singers should get to learn the tricks of the trade from someone who knows a thing or two about singing. “I actually feel bad for the contestants on this team….. they are getting zero credible musical advice,” wrote another netizen, underscoring that the other teams could have an advantage at this point.

One Simone fan also voiced a similar concern as they wrote, “Why???? She’s not a singer!!!!” Watching Simone in her natural element in Paris and subsequently with her Gold Over America Tour posse has been an enthralling experience for the entire nation over the past few months. However, this fan believes that an important task such as being a mentor in The Voice should be left to someone who actually knows how things work in the industry. Yet another fan was baffled and tried to understand how getting the Olympian helps, given the context. “How does this make sense? ,” the fan looked for answers.

This is a singing show not a gymnastics show,” pointed out yet another member of the community to those who seem to have missed it by chance. This fan also thought getting an actual singer to help the contestants would have been the better move by Snoop. What do you think? Tell us your feelings below!
