Gymnast Gabby Douglas is a trailblazer in multiple respects. She was the first American gymnast to win the all-around and team events during the same Olympics. Douglas achieved that feat in London in 2012. She was also part of the gold medal-winning team in Rio in 2016. Besides that, she is the first African-American gymnast in history to win the all-around at the Olympic stage.

After the Rio Olympic Games, she had to step back from the limelight. As she put it, there was a lot of going on outside the arena. All of that ended up affecting her more than she considered likely. For instance, her response to teammate Aly Raisman‘s revelations concerning Larry Nassar drew a lot of flak. Unknowingly, she seems to have courted controversy once more.

On Instagram, Gabby Douglas shared a story. In one of the images that constituted said story, she wrote, “Thank you so much for the cute merch, @casetify!!” She also shared some images of the merchandise in question. ‘CASETiFY’ is a company that specializes in cases and covers for devices.

However, ‘Dbrand’ is suing CASETiFY for copyright violation. They claim the latter company stole their “Teardown” designs and incorporated the same into their own “Inside Out” line. Zack Nelson, a YouTuber, collaborated with Dbrand to design skins and cases resembling the inner workings of gadgets. He left unique markers in many of his designs, with some of those and the company logo also finding their way into CASETiFY’s designs.

However, keeping this case regarding cases aside, Gabby Douglas has put her mind on a different objective. Paris Olympics are all set to take place in the upcoming year. Can Douglas grab the glory again?

A spot in Paris in Gabby Douglas’ sights

Gabby Douglas is busy gearing up for the 2024 Paris Olympics. She announced back in July that she aimed to return for another crack at Olympic glory. Her former teammate, Aly Raisman, believes Douglas is best placed to become the oldest US gymnast on the Olympic stage since 1952. Of course, she is not the only star returning after a hiatus. Simone Biles and Sunisa Lee also fit that description.

Gabby Douglas has the Olympic trials to look forward to, with Minneapolis, Minnesota, which is the designated venue. Douglas took the time to get a complete mental reset in the meantime. All that remains is to see if she once again graces the Olympic stage in the City of Light next summer. Her chances look promising if Raisman is to be believed. Only time will tell, though, if that should indeed happen.
