The 2024 NCAA season has been the highlight of the gymnastics world. With blazing performances and heartfelt camaraderie, gymnastics fans have gotten a taste of what the Olympic year has in store.

However, despite the thrilling showdowns during the NCAA season, many athletes competing in America are moving to Europe. And now, in a mid-season walkout, one more gymnast has joined forces with Europe.

A talented gymnast from the University of Utah heads to Europe

In a post on X by Trent Wood, an update was shared amid the blazing NCAA gymnastics season. The post read,Amelie Morgan confirms that she will be competing at English Gymnastics Championships in March. Amelie Morgan, a talented gymnast who had previously won a bronze medal at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics as part of the Great Britain team, is currently competing for the University of Utah in the United States. Amelie shared on Instagram, Can’t wait to compete in my home country again and with old teammates.” The competition will take place on Saturday, March 2, and Amelie will be part of a group called Pool 42, competing in Round 5 of the championships.

It’s not clear yet how long Amelie will be away from the University of Utah’s gymnastics team since they are in the midst of their season until mid-April. Interestingly, Amelie had previously mentioned in April that she wasn’t seriously considering a return to elite gymnastics and the British national team. But her decision to participate in the English gymnastics championships now comes as a surprise. However, Amelie Morgan is not the only gymnast heading to Europe, and she is also not the only one to leave the gymnastics season mid-season.

Other gymnasts leaving NCAA gymnastics mid season

In a significant development in the world of gymnastics, LSU’s Charlotte Booth is also set to form ties with the U.K. gymnastics team for the 2024 season. Booth, being a dual citizen of the United States and the United Kingdom, expressed her enthusiasm in an announcement, saying, “I’m delighted to share that I’ll be training in England next month, preparing for competitions like the Welsh and English Championships!” She has already started training in the UK at Park Wrekin.

In addition to her international pursuits, Booth recently committed to Auburn as part of the signing class of 2025 and is poised to make her collegiate debut in January 2026. And speaking of leaving the season early, In addition to Amelie, another gymnast from the University of Utah, Poppy-Grace Stickler, is also scheduled to compete in the championships on March 2. Poppy Grace is part of the Red Rocks’ 2025 signing class, but she recently faced health challenges, being hospitalized with a fractured back and hip. Her recovery is expected to take about three months. As the gymnastics season progresses, fans await what the future holds for these talented young women.
