Joscelyn Roberson, a member of the US national gymnastics team, has experienced significant ebbs and flows in her career. Winter Cup, National Championships, and US Classic form the very apex of the 17-year-old’s illustrious journey through. However, it wasn’t until 2023 that Roberson attained her career pinnacle participating in the Worlds. A rollercoaster of a ride and the gymnast has a bittersweet moment to pick for a cherished memory.

The nearing year-end had the people on the internet reminiscing about the best moment of the year so far. Joining alongside Simone Biles and the rest, the 17-year-old gymnast picked the best of hers. The scene, however, carried a wistful air.

Joscelyn Roberson highlights a bittersweet memory

On the 16th, a tag asking the “Best moment of 2023” made its rounds on the internet. As people rushed around to pick the best, Roberson had to look no further than the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Though the youngster encountered an injury forcing her out of the contest, the US women’s team celebrating the 7th consecutive win framed the gymnast’s Instagram story.

Simone Biles, Shilese Jones, Leanne, Wong, and Sky Blakely wore elated expressions on their face reading the scores on the screen. The team had put up a combined score of 167.729, 2 points ahead of the next team. The results meant that the women’s team had clinched the Worlds title for a 7th consecutive time and Roberson was a part of it. However, though the event delivered a warming end to the US team, it wasn’t all sweet for Roberson, who succumbed to a leg injury.

The gymnastics star’s tears of joy

In September, Joscelyn competed against the best of US Gymnastics to grab her spot on the Worlds team. A 54.900 on the scoreboard and the gymnast was headed to Antwerp. Roberson, who excels on Balance Beam and Vault, had trodden well through the qualification process. However, on the brink of finals, Joscelyn took a misstep, ushering her out of the finals. During the warmup on the Vault, the gymnast landed a bit short, thus infusing a leg injury.

The 17-year-old was rushed out of the arena and stopped from performing for safety reasons. The incident, however, did not stop her from cheering her teammates on and sharing their happiness. I was crying so many happy tears for all of us!” Joscelyn said, reported Inside Gymnastics. It took Roberson over a month to be back on the mats and flipping. Flippin again!!😎 #recovery #soexcited” the gymnast shared on her social media and now walks the path to Olympics.
