Simone Biles is reaping rich benefits from her close bond with Jordan Chiles. Biles has always been a mother-like figure for her mates in Team USA. From Suni Lee to Jordan Chiles, Biles has come to the aid of everyone to make them feel confident ahead of a big event. But her ratio with Jordan Chiles is something that both the gymnasts cherish. Chiles has been training alongside the US gymnastics queen before the Tokyo Olympics. Unfortunately, the outing did not go well for both the athletes. While Chiles could only manage a silver medal in the team event, Biles had a disastrous run following her twisties debacle. 

However, picking themselves up from the dust, the duo went on a mission to conquer Paris. Fostering an environment where being comfortable is not an option, Jordan Chiles got candid with PEOPLE as she stated, “She is somebody that I’m always going to look up to no matter what it is in life.” And now, while Biles is in the twilight of her career, her young prodigy has stepped up to guide her BFF through the odds. 

Simone Biles recollects Jordan Chiles’ help

With the Gold Over America Tour 2024 set to begin shortly, promotions are in full swing. In a recent video posted on Instagram, Simone Biles reminisced about past experiences. As the opening act from a previous season played, Biles recalled how nervous she had been at the start. She mentioned that her panic caused her to forget most of her routine, and she even struggled to remember her exit direction.

But then there was Jordan Chiles, ready to help her out. Confused, Biles called out from the stage, “Jordan, Jordan!” And Chiles immediately obliged, showing her the way and saving the gymnastics queen from embarrassment. Chiles had previously mentioned that training alongside the GOAT isn’t an easy affair. The extremely high standards can be challenging for fellow gymnasts to meet. However, for Chiles, it was a positive experience as it motivated her to push her limits.

Speaking about Biles’ influence in her life, Chiles stated that the GOAT has made her understand the game much better than what she already did. Chiles said, “Whether it’s my first Olympics, my first international assignment, whether it’s my second Olympic trials, she’s been there for me in a million different ways and I can’t say thank you enough.” Thus, banking on the experience gained from Biles’ mentorship, Chiles came with high hopes in Paris. She also had a crowning moment when she won the bronze medal in the vault finals. Unfortunately, things went haywire as Chiles was stripped off her medal soon afterward. Reacting to the fiasco, Simone Biles called for ‘justice’.

Jordan Chiles initially won the Olympic bronze medal through an inquiry submitted by Cecile Landi. However, upon further investigation, it was discovered that Landi was allegedly late in submitting her inquiry. This led to Chiles’ revised score being voided, and the CAA decided to strip Chiles of her medal. Shockingly, it was later found that there were no methods to determine whether the inquiry was indeed late. On the contrary, USA Gymnastics stated that they have video evidence showing that Landi’s inquiry was submitted within the time limit.

All these back and forth seemingly made Simone Biles frustrated. Expressing her discontent over the matter, the 7x Olympic gold medalist stated, “We saw what you did… And it’s an unfortunate circumstance because something like this has never happened before and it’s truly a shame, but we wish all three girls could get the medal, and unfortunately in gymnastics that’s not the case.” She also delved into whether the decision was a fair one and whether the correct measures were taken for the ruling of the case. 

Calling for justice, Biles said, “Do we think they did the correct procedures to come to this ruling? No. That’s really why we want that justice for Jordan and why we’re going to keep supporting her and uplifting her.” Thus, with the bond growing stronger with each passing day, it remains to be seen whether Jordan Chiles can uplift her game further and take herself closer to the legendary standards that her BFF, Simone Biles has set.
