Home/Olympics

Gabby Douglas is a name in gymnastics that needs no introduction, as she has already proven herself on numerous occasions. The three-time Olympic gold medalist took a break from the sport, and in July last year, she announced that she’d be returning to gymnastics. However, her road to return was met with an upsetting bump when the Virginia-based gymnast had to withdraw from the 2024 Winter Cup due to COVID, which also hampered her Paris Olympics’ 2024 qualification.

However, let bygones be bygones, and let’s hope that Douglas makes her professional comeback soon. She has already hit the gym and is back in the saddle. During an interview recently, the Newport News native uncovered everything about her comeback and how she is doing in her practice.

Inside Gym posted a video on their Instagram on Saturday where she covered every tidbit about her return and how she is doing with the sport.I’ve been out for six years didn’t touch any sort of equipment. So it became like a very good challenge for me to see how quickly I could get my skills back,” the Olympian said in her statement. She also added that her biggest goal was to love the sport that she loved doing, and she never wanted to walk away in hate with gymnastics.

Gabby Douglas also wants to give it her best without worrying about the outcomes and have more fun while doing her routines. If her professional endeavors are concerned, then the artistic gymnast has not stepped in the arena for nearly eight years, and she has yet to participate in a competitive event since the 2016 Rio Olympics. Her training facilities were also in limbo a few days ago, but it looks like the 2015 team event world champion has resumed her training at WOGA.

She’s again hitting the ground running

News emerged a few days ago that the American prodigy had parted ways with the World Olympic Gymnastics Academy (WOGA), where she was training under Anna Liukin and her husband Valeri. Liukin herself had confirmed the news, but Douglas has started to train at the same facility again, which was confirmed by Inside Gymnastics on Thursday. Now she will have to prove herself at the forthcoming competitions to fix her spot for the upcoming Olympics.

Gabby Douglas’ road to the Paris Olympics 2024 will not be a bed of roses, and she’ll have to earn a qualifying seat at the U.S. Championships in the month of May. To confirm her sport, she will have to participate in the national team camp in April or the American Classic. However, if she fails to do so, there would still be a chance for her in May through the U.S. Classic participation, which will take place in May.
