The arena that leads to the Olympics is set. The American gymnastics team’s path to Paris will be the same as it was for Tokyo. The final lineup for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials will be selected in the U.S. Gymnastics Championship 2024. Weeks after Simone Biles clinched her eighth National Championships title on August 27, a major update on the 2024 championships has come up.

Since the National Championships is the route to the Olympics, there is always interest in its venue. The USA Gymnastics has recently spilled the beans on that.

Old venue with new hopes for gymnastics

USA Gymnastics has chosen Fort Worth to play host to the 2024 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships. The event is scheduled to take place from May 30 to June 2, 2024, in the Dickies Arena of Fort Worth. This is the same venue that had hosted the championships in the Tokyo Olympics year 2020. Referring to this feat, Stefanie Korepin, the USA Gymnastics Chief Programs Officer, said, ?With the incredible success of the 2021 championships, we are excited to return to Fort Worth?.

According to a report by NBCDFW, over 150 gymnasts will be up against each other for a spot in the US national team.?The qualifiers in the National Championships will move one step closer to their Olympic goals. Therefore, the excitement around the event is of the next level. However, there are some spoilers as well.

Despite the excitement, many fans have bashed the USAG for choosing Fort Worth as a venue. The reason for their outburst is however far from sport. They poured in their disapproval for arranging the event in a state that has banned abortion, according to a report by Gymnastics Now. However, positivity has prevailed.

Fort Worth authority welcomes decision

USAG CEO, and President, responded to the dissatisfied fans, saying, “We are about empowerment. We are about choice. We are about agency. And the overturning of that decision does take away from our value system” On the other hand, Jason Sands, who acts as the Executive Director of the Fort Worth Sports Commission, welcomed the announcement. He said, “We truly value our partnership with USA Gymnastics and we couldn’t be more excited to host this prestigious championship”. Sands has already begun preparations for the event in anticipation of hosting the best gymnastics talents in the country.

The Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships will be a major event and attract over $7.4 million in revenue for the city. Therefore, Sands does not want to leave anything to chance and ruin the stellar reputation of the arena. Fort Worth has one of the best gymnastics arenas in the country. For this reason, the NCAA Women?s Gymnastics Championships have a contract with the venue till 2026, per sources. Now, with the National Championships coming up, the arena continues to uphold its reputation as a top-notch facility.
