NIL rule change has been a persistent topic of talk when it comes to NCAA athletes. Over the past year, it has revolutionized the influence college athletes have held through their presence in particular fields alongside the way sports and finance have mingled. With the shift in the rules, athletes have made nearly $2 billion according to reports. While Olivia Dunne has joined the 7-figure club, 20-year-old Leanne Wong is right on the trail.

The 20-year-old gymnast has carefully treaded her way through the field of gymnastics to stand decorated with 2 Worlds team gold, silver in all-around, and a bronze on the floor. As her accolades shine through, she hasn’t feared away from exploring the field of brands. While successfully handling her small business, Leanne has bagged multiple NIL deals. In an exclusive interview with Essentially Sports, the gymnast reveals her route through NIL.

In the interview with ES, Leanne was asked, “What is your take on NIL deals? Have you ever considered monetizing your fame with sponsorship and brand deals?” To which, the youngster replied, “The companies I have/had NIL deals with are GK Elite, Bubble Skin Care, Gata Verse, Upper Deck, Campbell?s Soup, Icy Hot, Sanzo, and Quest Nutrition. It is an amazing opportunity to be able to monetize fame with brands. I am extremely grateful to be on the Quest Nutrition team and to be able to promote their products. Not only do I love Quest products but it’s amazing to take on both international elite and collegiate gymnastics trips. I have always loved Quest products and going to the store to shop for new flavors. The birthday cake has always been one of my favorite flavors and the packaging is also pink! I?m grateful for the relationship I?ve built in my partnership with Quest.”

Leanne has held a partnership with Quest Nutrition since 2022 and has proudly been a part of their brilliant athlete squad. However, as she maintains her continued deal with Quest, she has also been brilliantly running her small business: Leanne Wong Bowtique.

The 20-year-old gymnast started her brand back in 2021 to sell handmade bows out of her love for them. Fast forward to 2023, the brand has now expanded to include bows, leotards, and apparel. The youngster has reportedly sold her bows in person at gymnastics meets and camps followed by her presence on social media. Earlier this month, Leanne also extended her support in the fight against breast cancer using her platform.

However, interestingly, Leanne has had another reason behind starting her brand besides her love for the bows. She remarked that it was important that gymnasts capitalize on their time considering their future in their path. She said that female gymnasts have a restrictive time on their path compared to women in other sports. The chances are an obligation for the athletes to tread a path of their will.

But despite all, Leanne Wong loves her career as a gymnast. She has revealed that she would want to achieve more in elite gymnastics and hopefully make it to the 2024 Olympic roster.
