Coco Gauff might have missed out on an Olympic gold in Paris, but she is surely catching up. Bursting into the scene with her impeccable US Open victory in 2023, Gauff instantly became an American favorite. The 20-year-old has been on and off in major Grand Slams while showing glimpses of her impeccable set of talents. Likewise, her recent outing at the WTA Finals turned out to be one of Gauff’s most memorable.
Staged in Saudi Arabia, Gauff’s path to glory was not easy at all. Pitted against the Chinese Zheng Qinwen, Gauff suffered an early setback. Qinwen displayed some impeccable play to clinch the first set 3-6. However, Gauff quickly composed herself to claw back into the game. Overcoming the initial jitters, Gauff won the subsequent sets 6-4, 7-6 (7-2), to record the second biggest triumph for her.
Soon after, congratulations started to flow thick and fast. And amidst all the wishes, two in particular stood out significantly. The first was that of US track and field phenom Noah Lyles. Lyles, who is the reigning men’s 100m champion in the Olympics, has never backed away from appreciating fellow American athletes. Taking to the comment section, Lyles wished her, saying, “Congratulations.”

Next up, things got a little more special as Suni Lee decided to jump on the congratulations wagon. Taking to her Instagram story, the Tokyo all-around champion appreciated Gauff’s hard work. She wrote, “@cocogauff the greatest to do it.” Lee also shared the 20-year-old’s Instagram post, where Gauff explained how excited she was to achieve such a major breakthrough.
Well, this was not the only time that Lee had extended her best wishes to the tennis star. Facing Elina Svitolina in Round 3 of the US Open this year, Gauff made a thumping comeback. Having lost the first set 3-6, Gauff made an impressive comeback to clinch both sets and take the victory.
Interestingly, this marked the 60th Grand Slam victory of Gauff. Impressed by the achievement, Suni Lee shared the feat on X and captioned it with three crown emojis. However, it is not only Lee who praises Gauff every time. Coco Gauff too gave the Olympic gold medalist her flowers after a major career achievement of Lee.
