First, a horrific car accident before the trials which resulted in back and foot fractures. It ultimately led to a delay in her Olympic dream. Despite finishing 10th place, only the top-9 were selected and Jones was left devastated due to one spot. The year took a darker turn when, in December 2021, her father Sylvester Jones succumbed to kidney disease. Her recent post serves as a poignant reminder to herself—a step closer to fulfilling her late father’s dream of witnessing her on the Olympic stage.
