Would Simone Biles be the GOAT without the support of her adoptive parents?

Simone Biles has a lifelong cheerleader in her sister Adria Biles. Adria isn’t just Simone’s twin in looks or in gymnastics passion; she’s also the adopted by Nellie and Ron alongside Biles. It’s almost like looking at Simone’s mirror image – their smiles and even their laughs are spot on. Catching a glimpse of Adria is like seeing Simone’s reflection in a funhouse mirror: her mannerisms and jokes are so similar it’s uncanny. Recently, Adria shared some heartwarming sibling moments that really highlight the special bond between them, proving that their connection goes beyond just being true sisters.

Chris Osmond recently welcomed Adria Biles to his YouTube podcast, “Simone Biles: Adria Biles on Sisterhood, Paris, and Olympic Pressure.” The conversation took a playful turn when he asked if their close resemblance ever sparked any typical sisterly spats, like, “Since you guys are basically twins, do you kind of nag at each other or cause a little bit of a tiff?” Adria, who’s two years younger than Simone, responded with a smile, revealing that despite their look-alike appearances, their bond is all about support and love, not rivalry.

She laughed about their fashion mix-ups, saying about one instance, “She has so many clothes, so it’s like you’re not even going to know if it’s mine. But I’ll either take it and be like, ‘Hey, I’m taking your stuff,’ or she’ll give it to me, like, fully hand it to me and say, ‘Here, I’m giving it to you with my full self.’ Then I’ll wear it, and she’ll be like, ‘That’s my shirt!’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, do we not remember a week ago when you handed it to me?” So, the host asked with a grin, “Does she ever take any of your stuff?”

Adria laughed, “She doesn’t take it, but I’ll give her, like, if something’s too small or something, because she’s so tiny. I’ll be like, “Hey, I have a shirt,” and so we share clothes all the time. If I did that to my sister… actually, you know what, I probably would.” Adria mentioned that sharing clothes feels like a love language to her and that she truly enjoys it, though she acknowledges there’s a limit.

She said she always takes good care of her Biles’s things things and returns them if asked. However, if  Biles gives her something with the intention of getting rid of it, and then gets upset when she wears it, Adria finds it a bit confusing. She noted that while she makes sure to return borrowed items, receiving something as a gift changes the dynamic. However, Adria Biles shared a fun and revealing story about how she and Simone first got involved in gymnastics.

Ronald and Nellie Biles, initially pushed them into gymnastics to keep them safe—after all, the sisters were flipping around the living room and even attempting dangerous stunts like jumping over railings onto couches. Simone, being the older sister, taught Adria how to flip in their backyard, which led their parents to realize they needed a safer environment for the girls. Adria recalled them saying, “We need to get you guys somewhere where you’re not going to die.” Simone’s talent was quickly recognized when, at just six years old, she flawlessly imitated trained gymnasts during a daycare field trip. This prompted her parents to enroll her in gymnastics classes, and Adria soon followed.

The Biles sisters faced adversity early in life, with their biological mother struggling with addiction. Removed from her care, they spent about three years in the foster system before being adopted by their grandparents, Nellie and Ronald Biles. Adria followed in her footsteps, even though gymnastics didn’t come as naturally to her. Though their mother initially pulled Adria out of gymnastics, she was later allowed to return as a birthday gift, reigniting her love for the sport.

Adria competed as an elite gymnast until high school but eventually decided to quit, with her family’s support. Today, she works at the World Champions Centre (WCC) and remains close to Simone, who continues to train there. Their bond is as strong as ever, showing the power of sisterly love and determination that can never be broken.
