Yul Moldauer: From Seoul to Gymnastics Success
Born on August 16, 1996, as Kyung-Tae in Seoul, South Korea, Yul Moldauer’s story begins here. Before turning one, Peter Moldauer adopted him and changed his name to Yul after the popular actor Yul Brynner. This, of course, concerned his future because his biological mother’s chemical dependency ultimately led to his adoption. However, his adoptive father was not deterred. Raised alongside three siblings on a Colorado farm, Moldauer attended Golden High School. At the age of seven, he joined gymnastics after being introduced to a local gym’s free trial period program.

He soon rose through the ranks under the tutelage of Artemev at 5280 Gymnastics, taking state titles winning regional competitions and securing a spot on the Junior National Team. In 2018, Moldauer was named Male Athlete of the Year by USA Gymnastics.
