Amid other athletic domains, figure skating has been doing rounds of the top stories quite often now. A couple of days ago, Deanna Stellato-Dudek became the oldest World champion at 40 years old, after capturing the pairs title. But good days for the Philadelphia native, who remained strict in displaying absolute finesse despite her young age. At 17, Isabeau Levito has everything an Olympian should possess.

The 2022/23 Grand Prix silver medalist is also the 2023 US National champion. Since junior days, she has been making waves like her senior counterparts, which culminated at the 2024 World Figure Skating Championships. The Montreal crowd burst into cheers as Levito etched her name in the annals of history.

Figure skating champ Isabeau Levito is a young history-maker

NBC Olympics and Paralympics’ X page features the gleeful history maker sharing her ‘super happy’ notes. The caption reads, At just 17 years old, Isabeau Levito delivered a #WorldFigure silver medal, the best finish for a U.S. woman since 2016″. In 2016, Ashley Wagner secured the silver at the 2016 World Championships and made way for her Levito to take her legacy forward. The three-time ISU Grand Prix silver medalist is originally an Italian, whose mother immigrated to the US in 1997.

The 2022 Junior World champion began skating when she was three. In Mount Laurel, New Jersey, she kick-started her skating career with learn-to-skate classes her mom signed up for. Shortly after, stepping foot at the competition ground, she walked home with the 2018 US Figure Skating Championships title at just 11. Let’s take a look at her career graph in 2023.

Levito is nothing short of phenomenal

At the 2023 US Championships., defending the long-standing champion Bradie Tennell, she finished 0.02 points ahead to claim the title. Then came the Four Continents Championships, where she landed with a silver. One of the biggest learning experiences happened in the 2023 World Championships, where she couldn’t level up from the fourth position. Being judged for under rotation and falling on the triple Lutz didn’t come with a heavy price though.

Winning the 2023 Grand Prix de France was her first GP gold. Ecstasy reaching the peak, she said, “I was able to improve result-wise from the last Grand Prix season”. She has currently risen to the fifth overall in the Grand Prix standings but is one of the top seeds in the world roster now.
