After facing struggles like pressure, low concentration, and injuries during practice, athletes undergo another actual test before appearing in major competitions. It’s the test of performance-enhancing substances in athletes. Earlier, the figure skater Nathan Chen spoke about one of the most significant ongoing anti-dopping investigations of 2022.

The subject of this investigation is 16-year-old Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. In addition, the situation is under regulation by the Russian Anti-Doping Agency. Due to this, Chen opened up about figure skaters currently undergoing harsh psychological consequences.
Nathan Chen on bothering situation of testing
At just 15, the Russian figure skating prodigy Kamila Valieva set a record by landing a quadruple jump. She led her team with a score of 178.92. However, soon after the competition ended, the International Testing Agency revealed that Valieva consumed trimetazidine before performing.
Trimetazidine is a cardiac medicine prohibited in the Olympics’ terms and conditions. Following this, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency suspended her. But the judgment is still pending, causing other athletes significant issues. The test outcomes were scheduled for October’s first week, but the period passed without any update.
Speaking on this, Chen stated to The Associated Press, “That’s probably the hardest part, having no knowledge of the situation. We get updates, and it’s always, ‘We have no idea what’s going on.’ That’s super annoying.”
Further, Nathan shared the worries athletes have in their minds due to the pending medal ceremony of the Beijing Games. Reportedly, every participant in Winter Olympics wants an end to this doping controversy as soon as possible.
The painful investigation of Kamila
The leading cause of the investigation is the different outcomes of the two sources. Firstly, as the test happened in December 2021, the Russian agency reported the delay in lab reports due to the pandemic. But soon, Kamila’s reports came positive from the lab in Sweden. Following her positive reports, Kamila’s national title was on the edge of getting revoked.

However, soon another mind-drenching announcement was made by ROC. According to them, Kamila’s suspension should be lifted because the positive outcomes were old. Furthermore, the ROC stated that Valieva’s results shouldn’t be questioned because she tested positive before the games, while the agency did not perform another test during the Olympics.
