Inspired by Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s words and driven by his own desire for more, White decided to tell his story through the riveting documentary series “Shaun White: The Last Run.” However, following the release of Nina Dobrev’s latest Netflix project, ‘The Out-Laws’, White recently opened up about several nooks and crannies of the film making process.

When he met the creators of his docuseries, he felt a connection, as if he could open up and be vulnerable to them. It was difficult to relinquish creative control, but White understood that in order to create something authentic, he just needed to let go and trust the process saying, “I met them, and they were great people. I was thinking, ‘I can hang with them.’ If they’re around, I’d be able to open up and be vulnerable with them.”  He discovered previously unseen scenes as he worked through the editing process, a testament to the collaborative effort and trust he had placed in the team. Speaking to the Gaurdian he said, “The hardest part is trusting the filmmakers”.

It depicts moments of fear, stress, and uncertainty in addition to the adrenaline-fueled victories. “There was so much more happening,” White says, dispelling the myth of an emotionless machine. As the credits roll on “Shaun White: The Last Run,all that’s left is awe and admiration for the legend’s creator.
