Horses are magnificent creatures that have a way of creating a special place in our hearts. For an equestrian, saying goodbye to an equine friend is a heart-wrenching experience. Unfortunately, Scropton Horse Center had to bid farewell to a beloved member of their community.

A black beauty named Zeus, who had been at the Scropton Horse Center for almost two decades, left this universe after catching a disease that he could not fight. In remembrance of their equine friend, Scropton Horse Centre shared a heartfelt eulogy on social media.

Zeus was a constant fixture at the Scropton Horse Center. The beautiful black horse became a fan favorite as soon as he was introduced to the riders at SHC. In the twenty years that Zeus spent at the center, every person who rode him was enchanted by his looks, character, and ability. According to the post by Scropton Horse Centre, the horse had a way of molding himself to the unique needs of each and every rider.

The post read, “He could be the gentlest pony with a new and nervous rider but could step up for a great ride for those more advanced.” When Zeus retired from horse riding, everyone at the Scropton Horse Center believed that he would enjoy his retirement wandering through pastures and living a comfortable life. However, such was the vigor of Zeus, that it was soon discovered that he missed being at the SHC. According to Scropton Horse Centre, “Right up until his last day he was enjoying being with people and helping them to get the most out of their time at the centre.”

When the beautiful Zeus turned thirty years old, he developed a case of Colic, a disease that can prove fatal to horses. Something similar happened with Zeus, as he was not able to fight the disease which eventually took his life. All the lives that the horse touched at the SHC, were deeply affected by his demise. SHC wrote, “We will all miss him deeply; there is a Zeus shaped hole in our centre now, but he lived a long and amazing life and helped so many people to improve their own lives. He may be gone, but his legend will live on.”

The SHC is a distinctive outfit and one of the very few riding centers that have been built especially for the differently abled. Situated in the UK, the SHC organizes lessons for around two hundred differently-abled children and adults in any given week. According to their official website, their philosophy is simple: horses are remarkable animals that can bring lasting change. This is even more true for residents who have additional needs.
