The art of horseback riding is a pleasure that cannot be described. The sound of thudding hooves, the wind on your face, and the scenic trail all add to the allure of the exhilarating experience horseback riding offers. However, during the winter, this seems like quite a challenge for equestrian lovers, with the various hurdles posed by the weather for both horse and rider.
During the winter, indoor equestrian centers always come to the rescue when the temperatures drop, providing tranquility and health to horses. But, in Nevada, the indoor equestrian center at Rancharrah was unfortunately shut down, leaving local equestrians without any options for the chilly season. However, in recent good news, weeks before the holiday season, an exciting update emerges for horseback riding lovers.

According to KOLO, Silver Circle Ranch, a property located on Holcomb Ranch Lane in South Reno, is planning a major development project for equestrian lovers. The ranch, which has been in place for nearly half a century, is planning to convert the outdoor riding area into an indoor equestrian center. This would allow the local enthusiasts to enjoy their favorite activity all year round. Coming to the rescue of the local horse-riding community, Landess Witmer, the owner of Silver Circle Ranch, proudly told KOLO “We have the spot”.
The owner of Pair of Aces Stables, which is part of the Ranch, Liz Reader, also pointed out how the state-of-the-art project would help to “avoid pitfalls like frozen footing, and it would help the safety piece for riders and those handling the horses”. However, the project, still in the planning phase, has faced its fair share of challenges.
The challenges faced by the upcoming project
According to Reader, many of the neighbors in the area were not quite pleased with the idea of the indoor center. This is due to the growing traffic that could begin once the center is up and running. However, Landess Witmer explained that the traffic would not be affected as the visitors would mostly remain the same members of the local community and benefit the enthusiasts and riders during the cold season.

She explained that the business would remain the same regardless of the ranch being converted into an arena. The upcoming project still needs the approval of the county. Witmer is hopeful and will plead her case on Thursday before the community’s Board of Adjustment.
