After starting his career as an apprentice in the 2005/06 season, the record-breaking equestrian jockey has absolutely dominated the horse racing arenas across the globe. Be it Australia, UAE, Hong Kong, or Japan, the multiple Grade 1 winner has made a name for himself everywhere. As he steps on the Uruguayan soil, the Magic Man continues to entertain.

With a plethora of horses to choose from, the Brazilian took two of his best ones to taste Uruguay’s dirt. Not only did they accomplish that, the Hong Kong champion managed to clinch a Grade 1 victory as well in the process.

World Record holder jockey wins Grade One Contest in Uruguay

In the latest Twitter update, the World Horse Racing announced the unfolding of Joao Moreira’s magic in Uruguay. Moreira extended his dominant run to Uruguay, winning the prestigious Gran Premio Ciudad de Montevideo aboard Pacholli. “New year, same magic! Joao Moreira takes his talents to Uruguay, winning the first of their two G1s at Maronas today – the Gran Premio Ciudad de Montevideo – on PACHOLLI“, the tweet read.

Moreira delivered a perfectly timed run. The duo was among the last ones at the start of the 2000m race, and by the time they completed the 1600 meters, the 40-year-old sensed the opportunity to up the ante. So he did, in an exhilarating fashion, flying past his opponents to win the Group One contest by several lengths. Moreira clocked the timing of 2’02″84 at the Maronas Racecourse. The World record holder winner further went on to win the sixth competition of the Three Kings’ Meeting to finish a highly successful campaign in the South American country.

Joao Moreira’s incredible horse racing record

As he continues to dominate in the second decade of his career, Joao Moreira already has legendary career stats. The 2014 Coolmore Classic winner is believed to be the World Record holder of riding winning eight races in a nine-event card. Moreira achieved the record on September 6, 2013, at the Kranji Racecourse in Singapore. The 2010s marked the most successful years for jockeys, winning a plethora of Grade One contests in several countries.

UAE witnesses Moreira winning the Dubai Golden Shaheen and Al Quoz Sprint in 2014, returning later in 2017 to win the Dubai Turf atop Vivlos. Champagne Stakes and Golden Rose Stakes are some of his highlight victories in Australia while Hong Kong Mile, Hong Kong Cup, and Champions Mile are among some of his notable victories in Hong Kong.
