The US equestrian team has had a successful run over the years as a team. Fielding men and women athletes all the same, the team has stunned the grounds of the Olympics, World Equestrian Games, Pan Am, Nations Cup, and more since 1912. As of today, the team currently ranks second on the all-time medal table with 52 Team and Individual medals. The triumphant journey also entails the year’s success.

Earlier this season, the Jumping team qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and won team gold with a final team total of 12.37 in Santiago. Following along, the team today has once again returned triumphant from the Autumn Tour in Portugal; pushing the medal tally up the table.

USA equestrian team celebrates triumphant return

The 2023 Vilamoura Champions Tour & CSIO was over a month-long Autumn tour ending in Portugal by Moura Tours. The event ran from October 9th to the 19th of November to declare its show-jumping winners at the Vilamoura Equestrian Centre on Sunday. Amongst 14 fierce teams in contention, Team USA finished third on the podium, calling for a celebration.

The finish wasn’t a plain one for the team as a three-way tie-up led to a jump-off. However, with a spectacular performance, U.S. Chef d?Equipe Anne Kursinski led the team of Zayna Rizvi, Caitlyn Connors, Hannah Selleck, and Jacob Pope landed a third-place finish among the 14.

The roster slips to the third

Equestrian Zayna Rizvi aboard Exquise du Pachis started off the event for Team USA with 4 faults and 70.40 seconds. The run was followed by Caitlyn Connors and Falcon de Hus Z who also landed 4 faults at 72.28. However, Hannah Selleck and Cloud 39’s 8 faults cost the team a ride but Pope covered with zero faults and 70.28 seconds. The first round ended in a four-way tie-up for fourth place.

For round 2, Rizvi once again started with a clear ride and zero faults followed by Connors and Hannah Selleck. Unfortunately for Jacob Pope and Highway FBH, the duo recorded four faults for unclear. The 215.53 total placed the US in a three-way tie between, Belgium and Great Britain. For the jump-off, Zayna Rizvi went against Belgium’s Jeroen Appelen and GB’s Mark Edwards to put up 33.04 with 4 faults for 3rd spot.?
