With 2023 coming to an end, the anticipation is growing for the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) to reveal the 2023 winner of the prestigious annual awards.

The highly anticipated 2023 Horse of the Year and Equestrian of the Year awards have officially revealed their nominees on X. With the caption: “US Equestrian is pleased to announce the 2023 Horse of the Year and Equestrian of the Year nominees! Voting is open now through 11:59 PM/ET on Dec. 29.”

The horse and jockey duo are nominated by the USEF affiliate organizations and discipline committee for the honor. Since the nomination process is strict for these esteemed awards. The finalists are then chosen through a process overseen by the USEF Awards Committee. Ultimately, the winners will be chosen by member voting; the equestrian community and voters will then make the final decision.
The 2023 USEF Horse of the Year Awards Dinner is set for Saturday, January 13, according to US Equestrian. After that, the winners will be revealed at the Pegasus Awards Dinner on January 14. There will be a ton of exciting events at the US Equestrian Annual Meeting in Louisville, Kentucky next year. Looking back at 2022 winners
Salvino was a clear popular choice among his five winning horses named “Horses of Honor” at the 2022 USEF annual meeting. The honor also commended the American dressage team, Adrienne Lyle and Vinny for securing an early berth at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The duo earned the feat at the 2022 FEI Dressage World Championship in Herning, Denmark, where they placed a commendable sixth as a team. Again, in the Blue Hors FEI World Dressage Grand Prix Freestyle Championship, they took the same place.

As one of the other “Horses of Honor,” Quiana who was ridden by Paralympian Kate Shoemaker won at the 2022 FEI World Championships. In addition, the U.S. Para Dressage Team won a bronze medal as a team apart from the individual silver in the FEI Para Dressage Grade IV Freestyle event. Clearly, the stakes are high with each win count being vital for the big win.
