Jennifer Gates, Bill Gates’s eldest daughter, is recently basking in the joy of being a new mother. She recently shared an unseen picture of her first child, and thus Bill Gates’s first grandchild. She is married to fellow equestrian Nayel Nassar, and their love for equestrianism is what brought them closer together. They were both into the sport at a very young age, with Jennifer Gates especially growing up with 2 other siblings, always serving as a mode of inspiration and fascination to her brother and sister.
In an old video from 2014, a young Jennifer Gates is seen talking about her passion for the sport and how much she loved traveling to different places for various competitions. In it, she also talks about how much her siblings, Rory and Phoebe, are involved in her sport. Her answer is both funny and adorable.

It was the Longines Global Championship Tour in 2014 in the Chantilly commune of Northern France. A then-18-year-old Jennifer Gates, completely clad in a show jumping outfit, spoke to Steven Wilde about her love for the sport from when she was a child. She also expressed her enormous gratitude and good fortune to be there competing amongst the other greats. From talking about school to going to Stanford to pursue medical science, to her long-term ambitions, Wilde touched upon all aspects of Jennifer Gates’ life then.

However, a question was reserved for her siblings as well. Finding a nice segway, Wilde asked Gates, “Talking of support, you’ve got a brother and sister. Haven’t you? Are they involved in equestrianism at all?” to which Jennifer Gates answered, “It’s not really their sport… but they are super supportive of me. They will come out when they can and they like petting the horses, so…”
Her siblings, Rory and Phoebe were 15 and 12 respectively back then. The interview was during the ninth leg of the 2014 competition and Gates was gracious as ever during the interview.
Ever so gracious, Gates named her idols she looked up to
She stayed for a little while longer in the interview, as she talked about her family’s role in her endeavor and how they spend time together. Even as a teenager, Jennifer Gates was headstrong in understanding her family’s affairs as she said it involves a lot of “traveling” and “global work” among other things.

When asked who she admired the most in the competition, Gates named former American show jumper from New Jersey, Reed Kessler. Kessler’s confidence in herself inspired a young Gates. Jessica Springsteen was another equestrian Gates looked up to. Gates continues to be an avid equestrian to date and along with her husband Nayel Nassar, they continue to take interest in the sport together.
