The world of equestrian is booming right now with more riding styles and disciplines gaining popularity. Starting from horse riding to driving, show jumping to dressage, the world is witnessing the elite sport making its way to the top. Having said that, another equestrian sport is making headlines now.
The US Equestrian Team has had a phenomenal 2023 season and some disciplines have even qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics. But one of the most special events has booked its spot at the 2024 World Cup as well.
Saddle Seat Equitation to compete in the World Cup

The 2024 International Saddle Seat World Cup is scheduled for December next year. Further on, special mention to the US saddle seat equitation athletes, as 12 of them have secured their spots in the event trials. The World Cup has fixed two divisions with six participants in each for the competition. One of the divisions is three-gaited, and the other is five-gaited.
The competitors are girding up to defend their titles in Parys, South Africa next December. So, to enhance their horsemanship skills, the US athletes will start with their practice sessions anytime soon. The main purpose of the selection is that the saddle seat athletes will get a chance to represent their country on an international level. Moreover, the event gets more challenging as the host country will provide the athletes with horses.
That too, with the help of random draw. In the trials event, the William Woods University’s Equestrian Studies program horses will come to replicate the final feat. Analyzing their riding finesse and ability to solve problems, the judges will score the riders. Further on, the athletes will also get a scope to form connections with each other and the horses. Shedding some light on this matter, William Woods’ coach Sarah Track shared some stories.

Sarah Track’s take on the competition of the equestrians
Alongside Georgia, Jimmy Morrison and Pam Roush, equestrian coach Sarah Track will come onboard to train the riders. She said, “The judges are looking for somebody who can solve problems and really get on and catch ride.” She further solidified her statement, saying, “If they’re going to go on to represent the United States, they need to be able to ride any horse, within reason.”

She said that acing transition off the rails, figure eights and simple leading changes would be crucial for the athletes. It’s just a matter of time to see who does best.
