There has been a lot going around the Fighting Fifth hurdle. The highly anticipated race was scheduled for last Saturday. It, however, got postponed due to snow on the track. Now, as the race has been rescheduled, the horse racing fans have one more thing to celebrate. A renowned horse and multiple Grade 1 winner is set to race this high-profile fixture at Newcastle.

Earlier, trainer Nicky Henderson had decided to run Constitution Hill at Newcastle. However, the excessive snow resulted in the fixture being postponed for next week. With the Christmas hurdle just around the corner, the master of Seven Barrows is looking to replace Constitution Hill with another Grade 1 winner.

After a disappointing week, the Fighting Fifth hurdle will be finally reopening on Monday next week. However, there could be a change of horses for Nicky Henderson. The 72-year-old legendary trainer is looking to replace Constitution Hill with Shishkin for this high-profile race.

@GGCoUK tweeted the possibility of this rearrangement. “Shishkin back over Hurdles! The master of Seven Barrows is considering replacing Constitution Hill with Shishkin for the rave next weeks Fighting Fifth Hurdle, the post read. With over $736,804 in career earnings, Shishkin is undoubtedly an accomplished equine and will look to reap rewards for the British trainer.

It could be a delight for horse racing enthusiasts as Shishkin has a good Hurdle record. Although the star equine refused to race last weekend, he could be a perfect choice and would get some well-needed rehearsal ahead of the big Chase at Kempton. But what was the need to replace Constitution Hill?

Why will Shishkin replace Constitution Hill?

Constitution Hill would always have been the first choice for Fighting Fifth hurdle. The famed equine was last year’s winner and would have looked to repeat the feat. However, the 6-year-old horse was also set to race at the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton. To not tire him, and keep him ready for Kempton, Henderson has decided to replace Constitution Hill with Shishkin.

Shishkin was scheduled to race at last weekend’s 1965 Chase at Ascot. However, he refused to start despite 9 Chase victories. Adding to Henderson’s headache was the fact that he didn’t want Shishkin to go to the King George VI Chase without a run. Eventually, the British veteran has only one option; Shiskin to race Fighting Fifth hurdle.
