The sport of equestrianism has been one of the most alluring domains out there, and it’s the equine athletes that make it a sport to invest your time in. The history of the discipline dates back centuries, and it has been around for ages. There is a special group of fans who have a special affinity for equestrian sports, but as they say, every rose has its thorn, as is the case with equestrianism as well, and it’s the deaths of the horses that leave a lacuna unlike anything else.
Numerous equine athlete fatalities are reported every year, and the officials are making every possible effort to overcome the issues, but the result seems dismal. Along similar lines, the equestrian world is left heartbroken with yet another death of a horse who used to be fan favorite. The fans have stepped up to lament the loss of their beloved “boy.”
Tragedy strikes the equestrian world once again

Connor (The Chestnut Artist), a 25-year-old equine, lost his life on Tuesday, and the Cheston Farm Equestrian Centre reported the news. The equestrian center took to their Facebook handle, posted a few pictures of the horse, and wrote, “RIP you absolute legend. Connor (The Chestnut Artist) 1999-2024.” The facility also reported that he was one of their most cherished horses, which they came across during the Exeter Auction in February 2010. Initially, they hesitated to take him home, but when the decision was made, it was worth every penny, they wrote.

However, the reason for his death was not disclosed, but there can be a possibility of a natural death as the equine was already 25 years old and a horse has a life span of 25–30 years. Connor was skilled in showjumping, and he was a go-to ride for the farm’s riders. He was also a great choice for lessons; the facility reported. The news of his passing has permeated through the equestrian community, and the fans are dismayed by the loss of Connor.
Fans pay their heartfelt tributes to the big boy
Upon catching the attention of equestrian enthusiasts, heartfelt messages poured in to remember Connor, as evidenced by the comment section of the aforementioned Facebook post. A fan expressed his fondness and respect for Connor and wrote, “Loved being up on Connor, an absolute gent. RIP big man.” Another fan conveyed his deep sorrow over his passing and stated, “Heartbroken! What a boy! So many memories and such a huge part of our friendship.”

One other fan shared a personal anecdote about Connor’s passing and acknowledged his greatness as he wrote, “Sad news. What a great horse he was..” There were several other comments, like “I loved this horse stunning boy sorry for your loss xxx” and “Saddest news…..taught me confidence and I loved him,” that reflected the sentiments of the equestrian fans as Connor leaves for his final journey.
