The sport of equestrianism is one of the most captivating ones out there. But there have also been times when the organizations involved in this sport have had to make some tough decisions. One such step was taken by an Arizona-based equestrian venue when they decided to discontinue their on-site events. It will also mark the closure of off-track betting facilities operated by the owner.
The news of the closure of the place has also deeply affected employees and fans. However, there have been efforts going on in the background to avoid shutting down the place. The officials have gathered to give it another thought so as to secure the future of live racing in Arizona.

As per the reports from the Pulick Report, Turf Paradise, located in the Deer Valley section of Phoenix, is putting a permanent halt on the live horse racing events. The 19th Avenue and Bell Road equestrian retreat has served the community for almost 67 years, and now the owners have decided to call it a day. This decision also implies the stoppage of off-track betting amenities under the ownership of Jerry Simms, significantly impacting revenue sources that used to support purse money for races at various tracks.
Stacy Campo, a local trainer, along with a group of locals, will delve into the recent Turf Paradise closure and explore the possibilities of sustaining live racing at Arizona Downs in the Prescott Valley, along with other smaller tracks within the Grand Canyon State.
Talking about the situation, Campo stated, “The writing was on the wall just by the way the place looks and how it’s just kind of fallen apart around us.” She further added, “It was just a shock. People are crying. People have been fired. It’s just devastating.” Further, the general manager of the place is also hopeful that the place will find a way to bring back the horse races.

Hope springs eternal
Vincent Francia, the general manager, said that all the races in Arizona are not coming to an end, but he was disheartened by the fact that the Turf Paradise, the one the Valley has cherished and backed for 67 years, is reaching its conclusion. There is also an alternative option of shifting the event, which will keep the races in Arizona only. It’s a place in the Prescott Valley, roughly 90 minutes north of Phoenix, that’s a perfect substitute for Turf Paradise.

The equestrian spirit should remain unbroken, and the communities’ determination to find new avenues to keep the races alive is incredible.
