The time to qualify for the Olympics and Paralympics ended on December 31, 2023. This was the big deal start of FEI’s ratings, which helped choose who qualified for the Paris 2024 Games. These places in the rankings were very important to get roles for equestrian jumping, dressage, eventing and Para-Dressage sports. Also, every sport had different rules and respective demarcations with set parameters in place.

The recent update from the FEI concerning the Paris 2024 Equestrian event includes the disclosure of rankings, quotas, and entry deadlines for both the Olympics and Paralympics.

The FEI has designated an overall quota of 75 Athlete/Horse Combinations in Jumping, with 20 Teams (60 Athlete/Horse Combinations) and 15 Individual slots up for contention. Notable NOCs like France (as the host nation), Sweden, and the Netherlands have secured Team quotas. Confirmation deadlines, varying by nation, underscore the urgency for NOCs to secure their slots. The subsequent reallocation process could impact the allocation of the 15 individual quota places, intricately tied to the FEI Olympic Ranking for Jumping.

As of 2/01/2024, some countries have got spots for JUMPING all by themselves. But these places might change if the NOCs on this list don’t want their team spot or can’t meet what is needed in a Certificate from the Olympic Committee. Denmark, Norway, Italy and Portugal were chosen because they did well in the Olympics or special qualifiers. Other countries like Venezuela to New Zealand are also hoping for a spot. Luxembourg is still waiting even if it’s highly ranked among nations but has not qualified yet.

Dressage and eventing galore

Dressage and Eventing unveil quotas of 60 and 65 Athlete/Horse Combinations, respectively. For Dressage, 14 NOCs have obtained Team quota places, with France leading the contingent. The battle for the 15 individual slots remains contingent on NOC acceptances and the FEI Olympic Ranking for Dressage, reflecting the top performances during the qualification period. Eventing boasts 16 confirmed teams vying for 17 individual slots, with France again securing a spot. The process entails NOCs confirming their team allocations and subsequently impacting the distribution of individual quotas. The FEI Olympic Ranking dictates the allocation of these individual places, allowing a maximum of two slots per NOC.
