The buggy was struck by a 39-year-old man driving a semi-truck in Darlington, Wisconsin, leading to the loss of the creature.

The heartbreaking loss of a voiceless companion in the Equestrian world

According to WYMT News, on Wednesday, the lifeless body of 21-year-old miniature horse Penny was found by neighbor Walker. He resides part-time in Illinois and part-time in Lone Rock, Wisconsin, where the horse used to live. After the immediate call from the neighbor, Wood Weller was devastated. He drove up to Wisconsin on Thursday night and visited Penny on Friday for one last time.

Upon closer inspection, Weller noticed a long, blue, sharp arrow lodged in Penny’s chest. He said, “I saw this kind of diagonal blue line. Then as I looked closer, I realized it was a crossbow bolt”. The shocking discovery left Weller distressed, not just for the loss but for the darkness behind such a cruel act. Furthermore, he added, “My heart is broken for my grandchildren that have no possible way to put this into context, and of course we will not tell them that an arrow killed her”.

Telling his grandchildren about Penny’s demise, Weller expressed profound sorrow. He emphasized the need to find those responsible for this tragic event. Police are actively involved in the investigation to bring justice to Penny.

Seeking justice for Penny

Following the devastating loss of Penny, considered a part of the family by owner Weller, he promptly contacted the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office for an investigation on Friday. The law enforcement agency, as confirmed by WMTV, is actively pursuing Penny’s killer. Contrary to the possibility of a hunting accident, an officer informed Weller that the arrow’s placement suggested intent rather than mishap.

Additionally, Weller emphasized that, if accidental, the responsible person would have reported it immediately. The authorities are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Moreover, urging everyone with any information to contact the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office dispatch line at 608-356-4895. The security and strict actions for animals’ surging death cases has become the need of the hour.
